We love the corned beef hash, which comes with two eggs on top home fries and bread. I always split it with my husband, since each half is large enough to be a meal. The omelets are really good and of course, large too. The other favorite of ours is their beef chili. It's thick and quite good. Most people... More

My wife and I needed to kill some time and walked into Mike's. The atmosphere and staff were great and the food was well worth the price. I had a cup of clam chowder that had plenty of clams and the thickness was perfect. The cup was larger than most, almost a small bowl. My wife had a ruben and... More

Simply amazing breakfast. Old type diner, waitresses were nice and informative on what is good. They are known for their Corned Beef Hash with egg. Awesome, the spices in the hash is delicious.

I don't love the scrambled eggs nor omelets (you'll never find a "fluffy" egg here) but their breakfast burrito, French toast (pressed and crispy!), and breakfast sandwiches are all very tasty! Sometimes a hash special is a nice change (and always good). BE AWARE: they do not take credit cards (though they house an ATM machine to accommodate those with... More

Everything a diner should be: - Salt of the earth waitresses who call you "hon" and mean it - Retro decor - Massive amounts of for more than reasonable prices Both the hashes (hashi?) (turkey and corned beef); and the Pllgrim sandwich are justifiably famous. I've never had anything bad here. Three hints: when you order grits, ask for it... More

Good breakfast, but not extraordinary. Mike's is very small and always crowded, and you will have to wait in line. The food is good, and the portions are generous, and the servers are very nice.

Try the home made corn beef hash and eggs, which comes with fries and toast. They also have turkey hash if you like. The eggs, pancakes, etc and other breakfast items makes it a must to go to.

So I saw this place on Yahoo! as being rated the BEST Diner in the state of MA. So since I was going to visit, I thought we would try it out. It's a small place, very small, maybe holds 50 people tops., I figured it would be packed since it was rated as the BEST Diner in the state,... More

A great spot for breakfast. My wife & I visited Boston a couple weeks ago and went there. Although a small place, they turnover tables quickly. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of the turkey hash, but, the corn beef hash was great and my wife's pancakes were just as good. Large portions, fair prices. Just a... More

Staying in South End

Neighborhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
