Friday night 8pm reservation. Table not ready, ok so we wait in their "herding area", a large butcher block like table where they serve you drinks and meat/cheese plates to mollify you. Great upbeat danceable music playing. Fun for a while. You finish your drink and food and wait. 8:45pm we're seated. 2 feet from where we were standing. Now... More

We recently tried this spot since we love B&G Oysters nearby (owned by the same restaurant group). Very cozy neighborhood feel. They have bar seating with no reservation. Advise to make reservation if you don't want to sit at the bar. The food was delicious and filling for small portions. Laid back atmosphere with way above average food and wine.... More

We chose here for our stay in Boston based on reviews and it being the sort of food and atmosphere we love. We had a fun evening but would have preferred a better space for a pre dinner drink other than standing around a "butcher's block" and whilst the food was good we have had much better for less money.... I and three business colleagues visited for dinner. The restaurant had a unique ambience: it was small (likely holding 50 patrons), menu specials on a big chalk board, lots of rough wood. On the menu were four signature steaks. I opted for the NY strip ($52) prepared medium. The meat that I was served was just tough. Properly prepared, a... More

Stumbled upon this place while cycling around Boston trying to get my bearings. Sat at the bar and Celeste my bar server was knowledgable, fun, friendly and sincere. The food was beautiful and very well presented. Love the selection of food and there's a real butcher shop if you fancy cooking one up at home. The wine list is the... More

This one of several restaurants from a local Chef. We have eaten here twice and absolutely love the atmosphere and food. While a little pricey it is the norm for Boston. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Have been to all the other Barbara Lynch restaurants, and so, was looking forward to visiting this one. Service was perfect. She knew the menu and the wine. Arugula and peach salad was good. Spouse had the BBQ chicken which was good. I ordered the porchetta, which was a huge disappointment. It was described as an incredible dish with crispy... More

There were four of us. The food was above average, but very expensive for the type of bar/pub setting without any ambiance. The wines were exotic and expensive as well, but we had help from the hostess. The service was good. We would no go back but I understand how some people would.

Busy little place in the south end of Boston. Food was very creative and delicious. We ordered lots of plates to share and I must say the foie gras was very tasty. We enjoyed various vegetable dishes and also the duck breast and the hangar steak. Wine hit the spot as well and the service was excellent.

Appalling service and attitude for an up market establishment. Booked, arrived, not overly busy for sure but evidently short-staffed. Starters very good, 4 meals, 3 were steaks, 2 were lukewarm, returned and heated and re-appeared as other 2 meals were finishing. Manageress (?) poor attitude. Items were removed from bill after a 2 sitting meal. Management not overly concerned. Not... More

Staying in South End

Neighborhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
