We were told Masa was a great restaurant, so we went. Totally mediocre, I felt. I had the chicken. It was good. Fine. Not exciting though. It was a busy, dimly lit restaurant on the high end which had an eclectic menu with little that seemed coherent or appealing to me. Honestly, I'm not that picky either.

This was a lovely little restaurant with both indoor and outside tables. The menu had some unusual entries and included a special part that was very affordable. It was a classy looking setting with attentive waitstaff.

I had seen advertisements promoting their weekend brunch and finally made it there yesterday. I wish I had gone sooner, as I will now be going on a regular basis. We sat outside and enjoyed a fabulous meal. The service was terrific - and so was the food!

Dined at Masa with a friend last night (Aug 2012) for Restaurant Week. Snagged the last table outside, which we appreciated, as the weather was lovely and it made for a leisurely meal. This seemed like a better fit for us than inside, which was darker, packed with people, and noisy. Our hostess was EXTREMELY gracious and very knowledgeable about... More

I love this place! The bar is a little small, but there's usually plenty of seating in the restuarant area, and if you ask nicely they'll let you order off the bar menu in there. The tapas are literally bite sized portions, but they're only $1 ($0.50 during happy hour) so they're totally worth it. You can get four or... More

This is an underrated place in my opinion. The brunch deal on Saturday is the best in the city. 2 courses plus coffee for $7.95! With home made corn bread, 3 different spreads. I went last night for the summer fiesta meal (3 courses for $27.95) which was also very good! We even got the $5 mango chilli sangria. The... More

While up in Boston, I decided there were two kinds of food I wanted, Irish pub food and Seafood. We went to Masa for the seafood part, and I am so glad we did. We started with an appetizer, Barbequed duck and scallops. The combination of flavors were spectacular. For my meal I had a rare tuna. It was sooooo... More

Our dinner at Masa was delightful. It was a rainy Monday evening, and the restaurant was relatively quiet, perfect for catching up,with old friends. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. We started w margaritas ( house specialty) and wine. The appetizers were great, tuna rolls and quesadillas. My salmon entree was an unusual blend of favors, but quite nice.... More

I've been searching without much success for a new favorite brunch spot and I think I've found it! I had the prix fixe menu which came with unlimited coffee, two courses and a side of corn bread with fancy butters. I started out with granola with yogurt, which I must admit, was a throwaway. It was much too sweet but... More

Masa is a gem. Everything we had was beyond excellent. The complex flavors were superb. Service was great. Inside was a bit noisy for us, and the table a bit small so we ate outside, in the small street patio which had a bigger table. Fun. Great service. The smoked corn chowder was magnificent, the acorn squash salad delightfully tasty,... More

Staying in South End

Neighborhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
