Sure the inside may have nothing to do with the TV show, but the outside is very much the real thing from the show, and the inside is still a fun atmosphere. The menu has a lot of variety and we had a very decent meal, very much worth it to come here at least once when you're in Boston.

Dinner at Cheers with my GF on our trip to Boston. Walked there from the Park Street stop on the T. Nice walk. Headed downstairs and it felt just like the TV show until we stepped inside. Downstairs was packed and we ended up at the "Set Bar" (not sure what that means) and had a nice dinner. Server was... More

This is the Famous Cheers restaurant. The lunch was served very quickly and was excellent. I had the Cup of Clam Chowder, creamy and delicious. Then I had the burger with fries, very good as was dessert.

We came here for the novelty of it, not for the food, and we weren't disappointed in that sense. It's a legit historic bar that the TV show was actually based on. The fact that its not a bar that was created after the TV show, and was in fact what inspired the TV show, makes it interesting to me.... More

Great environment- great adult beverages, food is average. Def something I would do if visiting! Our kids didn't understand the background but they still had fun.

It was fun to see the sign down the street and descend to the basement entrance. The staff was friendly, but the bar is so small. I didn't expect it to be as big as the TV show, but I'd be surprised if the front area holds more than 50 people comfortably. Fun to buy a souvenir, but would go... More

In Boston for a week, so had to visit this place. Was brilliant, really friendly staff, good beers, great service and tasty food. I had the Sam Adams Brick Red and the mushroom grilled sandwich with fries. We got asked to move to allow a big group to sit down, which we were happy to do, but they even brought... More

Between my husband and I, we have worked/work in the city for over 30 years, just down the street from Cheers but have never visited. We decided to walk around the common and see the Christmas lights and stop here for dinner. Very small inside but lots of charm. We ordered burgers and they were ok. On the thin side.... More

As a HUGE fan of "Cheers", I had to visit the actual site that inspired the show. I was not disappointed. Got to enter through the downward staircase and into the building. Had lunch there on my first visit to Boston. Walked through the bar downstairs to the back and up into the restaurant (which would be "Melville's"). Sat next... More

Spoli alert - this looks nothing like where Sam Malone tended bar! Now, what you will get is a room full of people drinking out of Cheers mugs but the place doesn't resemble the TV show, except for maybe one piece of stained glass and some parts of the dark wood. That being said, it's still pretty cool to go... More

Neighborhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
