Went into the bar at 4pm, drinking at the bar was 1st come 1st served, tables reserved for those buying food! Now call me synical but I always thought the primary idea of a pub was to sell drink! People at the tables were "nursing"...their drink whilst those of us wishing to actually spend money couldn't! Went to the upstairs bar....... "we're closed" said a dour faced barman, no problem, we'll spend our money in a bar somewhere else......... buying alcohol!More

Went here on St Patrick day on the bus tour, didn't realise they had the set from the tv show upstairs which was brilliant. Also had a quick drink here with excellent staff, very quick to serve you even though the place was very busy...looking for green drinksMore

The bar was very busy- which was to be expected. Me and my girlfriends- who traveled from FL, stood until a table was available and an absolutely rude server stands over us and says YOU CAN NOT SIT UNLESS YOU ARE EATING. Did not even...offer us a menu or ask if we would be eating. This is understandable however, her tone and mannerism was disgusting and unacceptable. I asked to speak to a manager and she responds, I WILL NOT GET HIM UNLESS I HAVE A REASON. She proceeds to walk around blatantly talking poorly about me and my girlfriends. Frustrated as I could be I told my friend, THIS GIRL IS OUT OF LINE! She comes up to me and yells ARE U F’N KIDDING ME! I asked her to get out of my face and I put my hand up- she SLAPS my hand. The manager then comes and I express my absolute disgust with the fact that me and my girlfriends traveled from Florida and made this a destination, only to be treated like our patronage doesn’t matter. He repeated stated that he would HANDLE the situation however I feel like he is the type of leader that allows the staff to walk all over him and THEY run the facility! This was a great experience to see and stand in such an iconic bar, but if this bar had a COMPLETE change of staff, I’m sure the experience would be much better.More

Great atmosphere to enjoy a drink and meal with 17yr old son and watch the superbowl. Limited gluten free menu (6 meals), but the chilli was delicious.

Tourist trap - yes. But if you are a fan of nostalgia then you have to do it, and accept it for what it is, many of the previous reviews (good and bad) are pretty accurate, but I'm still glad I went. Over priced -...yes. Lack of enthusiasm from the staff - definitely. Crowded - yes. Food was ok - sure. I do think that if they are gonna milk this for all it's worth, then the staff need to get on board. (their indifference was bordering on rude).More

First time we have been back in a Few years. Similar to another reviewer, the quality of food and the cleanliness declined. Burgers were good, not really cooked to specifications, but decent. Thin piece of lettuce, very small tomato, no different and no better than...other venues. We didn’t order any other food so I cannot comment. The ice tea was watered down. Walking through the door there was a scent which I could not quite make out. But the smell was a turn off. The little one was hungry so we stuck with it. Restaurant was not clean and furniture dated. A restaurant that seemed to be thriving on the curtails of the show. Staff were certainly pleasant.More

Sad to see on returning after a god number of years that the quality of food has declined and the prices have been cranked for maximum tourist gouging. That’s not to say the food was bad but just not as good as it once was...and not worth the prices. The gift shop prices seem to be pretty excessive too when compared to other attractions locally - you get the feeling they’re really trying to milk a 40 year old TV show for all its worth. The other downside is it isn’t very clean - food and debris all over the floor, tables feel sticky and there was a bad drains-type smell which if it weren’t for me being a cheers fan and it being obligatory for me to visit when in Boston then I’d have walked out and not eaten or drink anything. The staff were very nice however and that plus my soft hearted nostalgia for my favourite US sitcom gives this 3/5 not 2/5 but, and I hope management read and take heed of this, for people not brimming with cheers nostalgia this wouldn’t be a good value proposition to eat or drink at. Also given that cheers went off air 29 years ago (exempting cast cameos on Fraisier) numbers of us with the rose-tinted glasses that can get past value for money and cleanliness/smell are only going to decline as time goes on.More

We had a great experience at Cheers, while visiting from Nova Scotia! Fun atmosphere with great memorabilia throughout related to both the show, and Boston itself. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday looking for a table for 3, and were seated right away. Our...server Mugsy was truly amazing - some of the best service we’ve ever received; we felt right at home. Food was good! Nothing fancy, but it was hot and fresh, and took no time at all. The gift shop was a fun stop too - we didn’t leave before buying a few things. We also stopped in to the “movie set” upstairs free of charge and snapped a few self-timer photos with the cardboard cutouts of the cast. We parked in the underground parking at the Boston Common, walked around and saw the Christmas Tree before stopping in to Cheers - a great Saturday night out in Boston.More

We walked to Cheers after visiting the Boston Commons tree and loved the experience. The place is nostalgic, the food was good and our waiter (Mugsy) was amazing! It was my birthday and they treated us amazing ! The chowder was great as was all...of our burgers and drinks!! We bought stuff in the gift store and went upstairs where we took pictures in the replica bar!! A great place! We were very well taken care of by Mugsy!!More

Found a parking place directly across the street...seated immediately....early afternoon on a Monday. We were seated in the Bull & Finch Pub area, not the bar itself. Neither is the original set for the TV show, but that was fine. The set is basically preserved...upstairs for viewing/pictures only. Burgers were excellent as was our server Bryan, better known as "Mugsy". I had one of their specialty Bourbon drinks that had cider and maple syrupMore

Who could visit Boston without a stop at Cheers? We certainly didn't want to miss it! We had read previous TA reviews about long waits and unenthused staff, but we encountered neither of that. Our 1:30 stop on a Monday afternoon........that's just the way our...schedule worked out...proved to be a winner! We were able to find a parking space directly across the street from Cheers, had NO wait for a table, and totally enjoyed our server, Bryan ("Mugsy"). I ordered their Famous Burger and my spouse tried the BurgerMeister. Both were flavorful and prepared perfectly to our medium-rare request. Yes, Cheers is a tourist attraction, but we were so glad that we stopped for a visit. Don't miss the replica of the TV show's bar upstairs! Lots of merchandise in the gift shop too.More

Crowded, noisy place where the gift shop is bigger than the bar itself. The staff seemed to be a combination of overwhelmed and unenthused although it was near impossible to get anyone's attention. When I did they suggested I go to the upstairs 'TV set...bar' but it was closed! I happened to glance at the menu and of course tourist prices applied. I'm glad I ended up not spending any money there. I suppose if you want to claim you had a beer at the bar from a TV series 20 YEARS AGO, this place is for you, but honestly you're livin in the past man!More

A tourist attraction but a pleasant surprise to how good it was! We knew we wanted to stop (so we could say we were there), but decided to eat there, too. An hour wait was only 25 min. Menu was large and food was wonderful....So was service, considering how crowded the place was. Prices a little high, but so is everything in Boston!More

As a tourist who LOVES the show Cheers, I had to go. Just know in advance what you are getting. Inside this is a good pub with pub food. If you are going for drinks and bar food, fantastic. Great for that. But the food...is just okay compared to so many great restaurants in the area. They have recreated the Cheers set on the second level, albeit smaller due to the space, but very neat to see anyway. Clam chowder was good, not great. Burger and fries were okay, what you would expect from bar food.More
