After schlepping around Boston all afternoon, we happened upon this little basement restaurant in the middle of Beacon Hill. The service was so excellent and the food divine. We had a bunch of appetizers and baklava for dessert, with a glass of wine. Everything was creative and delicious. We left refreshed and happy. What a lovely hidden gem!

Very good restaurant just off Charles St. The Persian, Middle Eastern menu delivers wonderful food with interesting herbs and flavors. The service is first rate and the prices reasonable (entrees are in the low twenty dollars). The atmosphere is quiet with good wall art.

The first thing that surprised me about this place was how quiet it was inside. Par for the course in Beacon Hill is a small restaurant with a lot of noise, crowded tables, and a wait if you didn't make a reservation. I encountered none of these at Lala Rokh! Maybe it gets busy during other times, but to not... More

Wonderful little gem in beacon hill. Perfect for a low key dinner or small celebration. The 'Mazze' menu allows for many small tasters - I certainly recommend this! Lovely staff, and most importantly exquisite food! Will be back very soon. And make sure not to skip dessert!

If you want to taste the real Persian food, don't go to this restaurant, as they have modified the recipes a coffin to American/ European tastes and try to be fancy and come across as modern. Thus don't expect the real traditional Persian cuisine evolved over centuries. I'm an Iranian having lived in Iran, Europe and U.S. and have been... More

We were a party of (7) seated in a reasonably private back room. Our waiter was very helpful and was intimately familiar with the menu. He gave us great recommendations on the Appetizers, and they really were excellent. Our entrees were flavorful, and interesting, but not as wonderful as the appetizers. I had the duck leg with a pomegranate and... More

Tucked away on a side street in Beacon Hill lies this hidden gem. Recently renovated, the restaurant features wonderful Persian. Full of flavor, savory dishes featuring exotic spices and herbs. Love the new photography and artwork. Cozy and unique.

Neighborhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
