The setting and location are what make this place worth going to. While the food is fine -- we had an array of pretty traditional tapas plates, including olives, tortilla, potatoes, and the like -- there were no standouts. This said, the upstairs is very cosy; a fire was burning in the fireplace, and the atmosphere was festive. Our server... More

I came here with some friends last month (had a reservation) and we got a large table upstairs. We got a ton of tapas, including steak, potatoes, meat/cheese platters, calamari, etc. Overall, the food was decent, nothing special, and the steak in particular was tough and rather bland tasting (even with chimichurri sauce). The sangria was decent, but very, very... More

My second visit here, my husband's first. I thought he would like it, and he did. We had a fine time, deciding on a tapas selection while sipping a very nice (reasonably priced) wine. Standouts: prunes, stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in bacon; sauteed spinach with raisins and pine nuts; and the Spanish sausage was wonderful at the end,... More

This charming Spanish tapas restaurant spills out towards the sidewalk in the midst of Boston's posh Newbury street. The individual tapas dishes are flavorful and priced reasonably enough, and the relatively standard menu is complemented by a handful of somewhat more experimental pieces that actually stand on their own reasonably well. In the end, Tapeo is a fun place to... More

I went to this restaurant at about 9:15 one evening and was directed downstairs by the receptionist outside. Once there I was told by the second receptionist that we would have to order within 20 minutes. I said no problem. Then I was told to go upstairs again to be seated. When I questioned this because of my bad knees... More

Tapas is a fun way to eat - you can try lots of things and mix it up with your dining partners. Tapeo does a pretty good job. It's definitely not the best Spanish food I've had in the US (and not nearly as good as the typical tapas place in Spain), but it is solid. I'd go back.

First time there, a friend suggested the place. The food was excellent and the service perfect. The place was busy and everyone looked like they were having a good time.

Been going here for years, ever since I was a student. Brought family over that were visiting. This restaurant is in Newbury street but you' d have to climb some stairs since the main restaurant is on the 2nd floor. Book open table, it's not available for lunch, only dinner ( at least when we went on a Saturday). Try... More

This is a popular downtown restaurant in a great area of restaurants and shops. Alas, we really did not find their food either authenic or very good. We started with mojitos that were heavy on ice and chunks of lemon, but not enough lime and mint. The tapas were average at best. The tortilla espanola was a bit bland, with... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
