I have been dining at Mistral since they opened about twenty years ago. I asm in Boston once a year for a convention and am always worried when a good restaurant goes down. NEVER happened as far as Mistral. I have dined in many fine Boston restaurants and this is consistently top of the list. Service is excellent-refills on water,... More

Consistently great! Whether dining at the bar, in the dining room or as a lucky invitee to a private reception in the very chic function space, I have always enjoyed my experience at Mistral......one of my favorite Boston restaurants. Dress code - not a "whatever you're wearing" place - most people look like they made an effort.

Enjoyed a nice pizza and a glass of vino at the bar. The simple cheese pizza was excellent. Next time will do a half and half now that I saw others try that. Professional service. Nice ambiance.

There is a lot of hype around this restaurant, and perhaps my review is flavored by expectations set too high. It was very good, but it was not exceptional. If i had visited without expectations, i might have given it four stars. Atmosphere is important to me. It felt tight inside, and pretty blah. The meals were average...nothing too creative.... More

Four of us went for dinner and everything we ordered from appetizers to entrees to desserts was delicious. Service was very leisurely, a bit slow but the staff was very attentive. The restaurant has a modern decor but was somewhat noisy but the food was definitely worth it.

Mistral is part of Columbus group of restaurants and it's the best of them (IMO). It's French but with New American Influence. The vibe is very romantic but it's also perfect for a bigger group or a special occasion dinner. You can't go wrong with a duck if it's on the menu but really almost anything is good. Their wine... Mistral is deservedly viewed as one of Boston's premier restaurants. Outstanding selection of well-prepared and delicious dishes and outstanding wine list. Servings are not huge, so feel free to order multiple courses. Service is attentive and prompt. The cavernous space gives a sense of grandeur, but also is a bit of an echo chamber for the high-powered clientele. Understandably expensive,... More

We had booked at Mooo, but due to some maintenance issues, we were contacted and asked if we would consider Mistral or Sorrelina instead. The server acknowledged our flexibility and we were given a complimentary pasta course. The food was exquisitely prepared and the décor in the restaurant was great. It was VERY busy, no doubt because of the issue... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
