Elegant, chic, impeccable service and the food is fabulous. Greeted warmly by the manager host, Christian. From the minute we walked in, it felt like we were about to enjoy a wonderful dinner and evening. Edwin served us our cocktails with minimal wait time. Our server, Louis is extraordinary. He is so patient, explained the menu selections thoroughly and we never felt rushed. The carpaccio appetizer was finely prepared with fresh herbs and the cod and salmon dishes were delicious. I’m so fussy about the temperature of my food and very happy the meals were served steaming hot. Javier assisted Louis and even though the restaurant was nearly full, we felt like they were our private servers. The wine list was great, as well as the desert selection. Manager Yannick shared a few words with us about the history of Mistral. Perfect dinner and evening. Grazie Mille 💞

I have said "Great Food and Great Value" in comparison with other restaurants in Boston but prices are very high everywhere in Boston compared to the UK
Notwithstanding this we received excellent service and the food was quite clearly prepared in a kitchen that knows what it is about and if I return to Boston I will eat here again.
We both had the foie gras parfait to start and it was simply magnificent served with warm brioche.
I had a Beef Tenderloin with Asparagus for main course and it must have been cooked sous vide before searing because I have never eaten such a good fillet as this before in my life and I am 75. The potato accompaniment was lovely also with mash having been taken from a jacket potato and made into a delicious mash with the addition of horseradish before being placed back into a hollowed out jacket potato for presentation. On top of the steak was a perfectly fondant golf ball shallot. I was intrigued by the addition of a long thick but narrow slice of wholemeal toast perched on top of the plate which was a bit strange to an Englishman of the Old England variety from Chilmark Wiltshire UK. The Red Wine sauce was wonderful.
My wife loves a Dover Sole and this was presented cooked to perfection off the bone just as if it had slipped off it's skeleton for convenience. Wonderful skill was at play here.
We started with two lovely Kir's Royale and with wine available by the glass we each had a nice wine to go with our main course.
I am really surprised by some of the other reviews on this restaurant but as a cook myself I could see the skill coming out of this kitchen and I really appreciate the work done by the brigade and front of house team who work terrible hours to make our evening special. Well done Mistral.

This special period of time didn't dent the service quality nor the food quality of this establishment. The portions are overly generous, and taste is complex - fois gras starter is incredible and crab meet risotto is sumptuous. The truffle pizza is a family size meal in itself.
The tables (indoor part of the restaurant) is far enough from each other and staff is very courteous and did their best to keep the quality of service of the bygone carefree days.

We have long enjoyed Mistral for its fabulous food/service and gracious ambience. One of the last remaining dining rooms in Boston for refined service! Or, so we thought… We dined here on a recent Monday evening and were beyond mortified at what it has become!
While the setting remains lovely, and the food quite good, for some reason the management has made the decision to pivot the atmosphere into that of a noisy pub. Ughh. So very disappointing. They have now crammed the tables on top of each other - forcing guests to sit on top of the strangers seated on either side. Why on Earth would they now think that customers want to pay these $$$ prices only to be treated as though they are dining at the 99? This jamming of tables sadly translates to a ridiculously loud volume and very compromised service. So disappointing! Not the special occasion setting Mistral once was. Warning… be prepared to shout in order to engage with your dining companion(s).
At the time we were being seated for dinner at 6PM, the dining room was empty. We quickly noticed this new (overstuffed) table situation and asked for a table in a corner. The host informed us they were “all reserved”. Seriously? How does one obtain that special service I wonder. Not okay to charge guests these types of prices and treat them like herded cattle. Does a huge disservice to your talented culinary staff too! Sorry to see Mistral go by the wayside.

My adult daughter and I treated ourselves to dinner here while visiting Boston. Our service and our meal were both just simply amazing! The ambience is fine-- elegant, but not any more so than many fine restaurants. The service and meal; however, were definitely out of this world. In fact, a week later, my daughter is still dreaming of her tenderloin. This is saying something as we are from the midwest and know a good steak when we taste one. I had the halibut over asparagus risotto and it was probably one of the best seafood dishes I've had in a very long time! We each had a glass of wine and were pleased to fine options at nice price levels. The desserts were a perfect way to end our evening. Our server and his helper (water person) were both very attentive and made us feel very welcome. In short, Mistral was the highlight of our culinary experiences in Boston and I would highly recommend it.

My wife, teen daughter and I all went to dinner here for Father’s Day and it was a level 10 experience. First, the service was exceptional. We were seated efficiently at a wonderful table and our waiter had a very strong knowledge of the menu and was always helpful and prompt. The rest of the service team was exceptional at serving and clearing, and refilling our waters without us ever needing to ask for anything.
The room is beautiful with perfectly balanced lighting and wonderful background music. The food is just fantastic and generous in portion size. My wife had a tomato, bean and feta salad, which was delicious and very lightly dressed. My daughter had a Caesar salad which was also a generous portion size with a lot of beautiful shredded Parmesan cheese surrounding it. I had the terrine of foie gras, which was delicious and is not to be missed! We would go back there for this item alone as it was so generous in portion size and perfectly balanced with strawberry gelee. My rack of lamb entrée was delicious and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend that and also ending with the profiterole’s for desert. A wonderful evening that could not have been better.

Mistral never misses a beat, every time we are in Boston we eat here, we took our friends and they love it. We ordered the mussels and escargot for an appetizer which both were really good. For dinner I ordered the haddock which was pan seared over a lobster risotto that melted in your mouth. For desserts we ordered the valrhona chocolate cake which was delicious. We did not order wine this time but they do have an extensive list. The service was amazing and not rushed.

Beautiful presentation and delicious food, but was shocked by a Caesar salad which was not made in the continental style. The dressing tasted like a bottled creamy 'cheesey' dressing found in many chain restaurants. It surprised me and made me wonder...
The servers are professional and the atmosphere relaxed and very lovely.

This was our second visit. Last time we found it and this time we made sure we went back. From beginning to end everything is first class. Of course, the warm crusty bread with a soft chewy texture inside is a perfect start! If nothing else go for the bread. We did!!!

This was my third time dining at Mistral and the service, food and ambiance were all outstanding. The crusty bread is worth the diet cheat and the Cornish hen was delicious. Our dinner was relaxing and well paced in a romantic setting. Highly recommend.

We really had wonderful interactions with the staff from start to finish. The host staff were very accommodating and gave us a cozy corner booth. Ask you would expect, our waiter was top-notch. He made great suggestions throughout including introducing us to the perfect wine to compliment our meal.
my wife doesn't eat meat, however, she could not resist indulging in the fore gras. For

I chose to go to Mistral with my girlfriend fir my Birthday this year in March . I have always lived this restaurant and once again it didnt disappoint. It’s a classy restaurant with excellent trained staff who really make you feel that your money is being well spent. I ordered the Duck for main course which was slow cooked for 4 hours in a red wine reduction risotto. Simply delicious. My waiter was very knowledgeable also on the perfect wine pairing. Ofcourse we had a desert because we know they have an excellent pastry chef, you just have to .
It’s so worth getting dressed up and going with a good foodie friend a treat.

You’ve been very good, and you require fine French cuisine. That’s why you’ve chosen Mistral. You will not be disappointed. You’ll begin with a perfectly made martini, which coming to Boston from New York, appears to be a rarity here. You’ve decided on a wonderful menu selection, so you’ll begin with the seared Foie Gras and Duck Confit en croute, then you’ll have the “half Whole Roasted Duck.” (Is it what they say it is? It is!) So you’re all set. And you know they’ll be delicious. And they were. But suddenly, you’re thrown a ringer. The talented server says that one of their specials today is Lobster Bisque. I’m in New England (and I declined to order a boiled lobster the night before), so who can resist? I’m glad I didn’t. But… now I have a boatload of superb cuisine coming my way. But… I’m in Massachusetts, and so I did as your senators do: I persisted. It wasn’t easy. But it was worth it. Fortunately, they have a digestif available. And it is Absinthe. I was very happy.

Came here with my friend when visited Boston on our first leg of our Fall Foliage trip. All the reviews were right. Their food were excellent and so is the service. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. Bread was fresh from oven. We shared the escargot…the sauce was so tasty we were dipping our bread on it. I ordered the osso bucco. Meat was tender it was almost falling off the bone. And the goat cheese polenta…oh so creamy. My friend ordered the tenderloin that was cooked to perfection. Finished our meal with some creme brûlée.
They had a wide selection of wine. Make sure to reserve in advance as they are very busy. Also try to arrive early because parking is tight. Or just take Uber/Lyft. We made the mistake of assuming they still had valet parking (they no longer offer that). We got lucky that somebody was leaving the parking lot across the restaurant.

Mistral has been around a long time and is known for its beautiful interior and excellent wait staff —
However last night’s dinner with another couple was a food disaster.
Pasta that was so undercooked it was not edible and a veal Milanese that would not be recognizable in Milan !!
Something is wrong in the kitchen-
Service is always excellent but without a top cuisine why pay $60 for an entree and $25 for an appetizer?????
