Mistral did not disappoint. Excellent atmosphere, excellent staff, and excellent art (doesn't feel right calling it food). The wife and I chose to eat here one night on our visit to Boston. We had an early reservation. We expected heavier traffic and arrived even earlier. The staff was accommodating. They let us sit at the bar, and a bartender excused... More

My sister raves about this place, so, when I came to Boston, I had to try it. Her raves are justified. The cocktail menu was excellent. I had three (couldn't decide and couldn't help myself--each was better than the last). Thank god my hotel was walking distance. The bass special was excellent (and I am NOT much of a fish... More

Dined in midweek. My wife and I arrived early and had drinks and appetizers at the bar. It was fantastic! Great crew and atmosphere. The patrons made it feel like a very high class neighborhood meeting spot. Everyone was terrific in offering advice on what to order. When our son arrived we went over into the dining room. Top notch... More

MISTRAL remains one of the best restaurants in Boston after more than twenty years. The food, is outstanding, I recommend the thin crust pizzas if you are by the cafe area. The tuna carpaccio must be one of the best in the city, it tastes and looks exactly the same as twenty years ago when I went there for the... More

We were there on a Friday evening - service was excellent but the food was only so-so. Not what I expected for the price or the hype.

So Mistral is #1, the best restaurant in Boston according to TripAdvisor. We went there for a special occasion and I have to admit our expectation were pretty high. Well, they didn't live up to these expectations. The food was OK but it is not by any means great or creative. The decor is nothing to be exited about either.... More

We were a bit disappointed because we had expected too much. We like to eat in nice restaurants on a regular basis and from the look of it, Mistral should have been one of the top ones. There was nothing bad about our meal - it was just average. The service was really nice and attentive. The portions too big... More

Mistral is one of our favorite special occasion restaurants. Once or twice a year we I need to get my fix of Dover sole which is absolutely divine here. The tuna tartar is also delicious! They have an extensive wine selection and the servers are very helpful and attentive. I do believe it's a little expensive but worth every penny.... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
