I was here with friend for dinner, and I must say that EVERYTHING was really good. We tried different dishes and they were all well prepared. The only thing I didn't like (but I tried it cause it is quite particular) is the ABC shaved-ice dessert... that's a bit distant from my European taste! Final result? Suggested place for good... We wanted to try out a Chinatown restaurant as part of our trip to Boston and were not disappointed with our choice of Penang. The food was delicious. We had the steamed pork dumpling and the chicken satay to start and then a rice noodle dish with pork and a sizzling beef. Everything was really tasty. Service was quick and... More

I have been to Penang in other cities several times. Visited the Boston location in October 2016. I was disappointed by the quality and taste of the food. I was surprised that they cooked the roti canai in the microwave!! Food wasnt tasty. Finally ordered for fried ice cream and it came with a lot of dough and less ice... More

Food here is pricey for what you get. It is pretty authentic Malaysian- Indonesian fare. Taste is good but not great. Nothing I would say hey I'm coming back here. There are too many excellent choices in this area not to have great food. The service was substandard which makes it even less likely I will return. It's to bad... More

Local friends brought us here because they had enjoyed it once. We all agreed this time that the food was average. Perhaps it was our selection, but my stomach was a bit upset and the food was not delicious. One plate, the duck rice, was just a pile of of white rice and three peices of duck bone in a... More

We went here especially to eat Malaysian cuisines and was recommended by a friend. Ordered roti chanai and popia for appetizers. Not impressed at all. Roti was pale and siracha sauce was on top of the popia. They can do better. One of the main dishes we ordered was Assam pedas fish head. It looks delicious. Not even close once... More

We were made to feel very welcome here. A very busy restaurant with good, friendly service. The open kitchen means you can see your meal being prepared and all our food was full of flavour and seemed like an authentic take on Malaysian (and Asian more generally) cuisine. Big portions and reasonable prices.

Wow. Good food, great presentation, great prices, huge portions. Went there with friends visiting from England, and we were amazed at it. Showed up at 7:30 on a Saturday night, place was packed. Waited 20 minutes, and had a meal for the ages. Wait staff was terrific, and you can see the cooks making your dinner.

We love the food here! I have been coming here for over ten years! Love their roti canai, mee siam, nasi lemak, chicken curry and their okra and green beans dishes! This restaurant is so popular in Boston. The servers are quick to receive your orders and the atmosphere is nice! The price is more than reasonable! Just thinking about... More

We were looking for Malaysian food or Thai options and thus place in Chinatown seemed to offer both . Located in Chinatown, this busy place offered super fast and friendly servers and tasty reasonable priced options . The place was packed on a weeknight but we got a table in less than 5 minutes . I ordered the lemon grass... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
