Found by chance a few years ago, I always come Back to that place every time I'm in town. Ugly place though, but it's all about its food. Never disappoints you. Soft shell crab, king crab and toro at their best. And I would add: very good money spent. If you want to eat sashimi at a reasonable price, this... More

Sometimes I'm confused with the types of sushi that are too big or too full of mayonnaise like the ones I've tried in Boston. This restaurant served sushi just right. I got a Sushi/Sashimi platter for around $27 and it was HUGE. Ingredients were fresh, I certainly got more than I could chew, and the waiter was smiling all the... More

It used to be a very good Japanese restaurant many years ago serving great sushi and sashimi. I went there recently and the sushi was only passable. It has turned into a high volume place and is no longer the authentic Japanese place it used to be.

Good sushi/Japanese food. A little on the expensive side. Service was good too. According to our server, if you want alcohol in MA, you need a passport if you are from outside of the US (they won't accept a foreign driver's license).

We had lunch here on a hot summer's day. While the place was relatively empty when we arrived (with reservations,) we were not seated until our entire party of 4 arrived, something which never fails to gall me. When we were seated, we were first guided to the basement which was dark and dank, in spite of lots of seating... More

I walk in and sit at the sushi bar. In short order, a server comes over to take my order. "I'll have a Kirin," I say, "and can chef do omakase?" The server looks at me like like I'm speaking a foreign language. Which I am. But one that should be understood in a Japanese restaurant. "The sushi. The specials... More

I stopped here recently with my daughter and her friends on a recommendation from a business associate. This is mid-quality sushi but I was pleased to see they had some tuna belly, which is not that common. The sign in the window that advertised an all you can eat option put off an alarm bell as I don't associate all... More

I'm not going to say it has the best sushi in Boston. Also, it isn't the most comfortable dining room; I wouldn't want to hang out there with friends for an afternoon. And, the wine selection is poor like it is in many Japanese restaurants. Oh, and the service isn't stellar. But...somehow since 1997 I've eaten here more than any... More

My husband and I wanted a sushi dinner that was all substance and no hype. Sakurabana delivered. Friendly service as others have said, fresh fish and some pleasant surprises--like Kobe beef sushi for $4! We have finally found our Boston sushi destination.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
