Veg fried rice like porridge and not like they have made it the last seven times we ordered. Asked and they said that’s how we make it and that’s that. Clearly used too much water ! Will not go again.

Really good. Authentic Chinese. Had a fried rice and a asparagus chicken dish very good. Large portions. Probably the quickest serve ever had in a restaurant. Would go back if we had more time in Boston.

Lol I'm just going to list every single thing that happened at this restaurant: 1. We asked for a table for 5 people, the waitress rudely shooed us to a table 2. Waited such a long time for the waitress to take our order 3....Waitress had airpod in her ear! 4. Made us pay for our meal BEFORE the meal 5. Forced us to tip - if we "did not tip we could not eat there" which put my friend under a lot of pressure and she almost cried 6. The waitress was just so rude, and the tables weren't set properly 7. We are actually afraid to ask for extra cutlery and condiments in case the waitress gave out to us All that said, the food was absolutely delicious😂 We all want to go back and eat at the Dumpling Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner just to make friends with the waitress and see if she'll be nicer to us :'DMore

There isn’t anything fancy here, decor is rather shabby and the lighting dim but the food is really good. The dumplings were delicious- and we tried many varieties- and the sautéed green beans were amazing. Drink options are quite limited.

We loved the food. We have tried several restaurants in Chinatown Boston over the years, and Dumpling Cafe's food exceeds most restaurants. BUT it was hard to notice that they had already included 18% tip in the bill. I happen to notice it and when...the waiter brought the card reading device to the table, it asked for tip again. This made it look like you had not tipped already. Anyone can easily be fooled in double tipping which made them look disingenuous. I think their excellent food will bring them business and they should stop including gratuity in their bills as that should be based on customers' experience. Not sure if would go there agin as I don't respect business that engage in such practices.More

Food was good service is horrible. Waitress was rude and has no customer service skills. Why is it these types of restaurants think its okay to have no customer service. They are located in the US not in Asia. As good as food is i...don’t want to be treated with such disrespect Food good, but place is dirty and service is beyond badMore

After dining here a few times, I had the vegetarian dumplings and vegetarian soup with flat noodles. Both, are great options, as well as a menu full of other vegetarian items. The soup is my favorite. Large bowl, pipping hot, with lots of veggies and...yes, noodles. Either option will run you about $15. I would've rated this restaurant with five stars, if the staff were a bit friendlier and it felt cleaner. Overall, my food was great.More

In search of a good Chinese restaurant and, especially dumplings, we tried the takeout at the Dumpling Cafe. We ordered spring rolls, dumplings, string beans and a shrimp dish. In a word, the food was awful. The spring rolls and the string beans were essentially...tasteless and the shrimp was overcooked. The dumplings were no better than average. The sauce accompanying the dumplings was sweet as was some pinkish sauce the purpose of which was unclear. And we thought that the price for this not very good food was very high, much more expensive than other Chinese restaurants. As an aside, this restaurant is on the part of Washington Street with the bike lane and there is simply no place to even stop a car to pick up food. We are still in search of a decent, accessible, good value Chinese restaurant.More

If you are looking for no nonsense, tasty and inexpensive Chinese food then try this place. We had the Taiwanese dumplings and the vegetable dumplings which were clearly handmade and delicious. Generous serves and reasonably priced. The lady serving us was very abrupt and unfriendly...but we weren’t there for good service, just a quick lunchMore

Late night Taiwanese restaurant with plentiful dumpling options. Came here with family on a Saturday evening for an early dinner around 6pm and got seated immediately. Indoor dining only, no outdoor option. Takeout is also available. Masks required. They do serve alcohol (there’s Tsingtao). Credit...cards are accepted. We got four dishes for the four of us, and that was a good amount of food. My mom particularly loved the pork fried rice, and since she is a fried rice fiend, that’s high praise coming from her. The xiao long bao had a really thick skin and not a ton of broth inside, but they were very large. The fried dumplings were good. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup was alright as well; you can customize the noodle so for those who are picky about noodle thickness, you’re good there. It’s a small space so it may be harder to get a table during standard dining times, but we were in and out of there within an hour. Overall, a good option to eat at if you’re in Chinatown.More

I went to eat with some friends because the place has a good references. The food is good, not fabtastic, but good; and the service is fast. The bad thing is the attention. From the one who receives you and the waitresses, they seem to...hate the client, they make the experience horrible! They speak English very badly, and if you ask them to repeat themselves they do so reluctantly. You ask them to explain the dishes to you (I'm Bolivian, I don't know anything about their culture) and it seems that you offend them. You haven't finished eating and they put the bill in the middle. I wouldn't go back to a place where you can see they hate their job.More

The pork and leek dumplings were excellent, served with a sauce that had just the right ratio of soy sauce to vinegar - plus a bit of sesame oil. The roast duck buns also were good, though they could have been better if the duck...were a bit crispy and the sauce a bit more flavorful. Prices were quite high, but portions were quite large. In other words, those who like to try different items should bring friends. The portions are too large and too expensive for a single person to try various starters. Unfortunately, the service was quite poor. I have a feeling that the young Chinese women working here hardly speak English, so perhaps for Chinese persons, the service would be significantly better. I asked my server about the dishes, wanting to know how various options were prepared (in other words, besides duck, what else is in the duck bun?). Unfortunately, she could not respond and I am sure that it was not because she did not know. The restaurant was quite cramped and, on a Friday night, it was packed. While this may be atmospheric in ordinary times, during a pandemic it can be a bit scary. Massachusetts requires all indoor restaurants to check proof of vaccination, but nobody was checked.More
