This place is delicious and well worth the long lines. My wife loved it so much we came back for a second lunch here on our 5 day visit to Boston. First day I had the lobster roll which lives up to the rave. The second time I wasn't feeling a very heavy lunch and simply had the lobster salad... More

Great little place to get lobster rolls - very casual place. Bit of a tight fit inside, but nice seating area outside near the water. We managed to squeak in at the end of the day before we hopped the train. The crew behind the counter were friendly and very helpful for this first timer. - Seafood looked fresh and... More

Found this place under a "Best of" list....couldn't believe it when we walked there to find a double wide trailer! Apparently they have a building under construction. Anyway, we came for Lobster rolls and they were awesome! Actually everything we saw there looked great-Chowder, crabs, etc! Definitely would go back whether in a trailer or fancy building :)

$20 for a large lobster roll, but wow wow wow! They water Taxi guy suggested this place and he wasn't lying when he said "The best lobster roll" piled on big chunks of lobster. Fresh and delicious. This will be a regular stop for us when in Boston! Super friendly people, live critters to choose from ;) A+

You order at the counter, get your food and grab a table inside or one of the picnic tables outside. Nothing fancy about the menu or the food, just good lobster rolls. Do yourself a favor and order the large.

Thank CarlosGuillermoJuan
Management response:

You're completely right, Carlos! It means a lot to see that you love the lobster rolls -- a large is definitely what it's all about. We can't wait to see you back again soon for more! Yours in lobstah, The Hooks More

We had lunch today at James Hook and Company. The service was friendly and quick, considering it was quite busy. The large lobster rolls were DELICIOUS!!! Lots of lobster and not too much/heavy mayo. The roll was tasty and fresh - not too overpowering as some are. The lobster bisque was quite tasty also. Our impulse purchase of a whooping... More

Management response:

Brenda, whooping pie is never a mistake! It sounds like an excellent choice, and I'm excited that it paired well with the lobster roll! We definitely can't wait to see you back for more of that duo. Yours in whooping pie, The Hooks More

I heard a lot about Lobster Rolls from various people prior to trying one. Even though the staff used real live lobsters, the lobster roll in my opinion was just okay at best. For $20.00, I expected something with better flavor. The decor was minimal and there was little room to eat in this place. I wouldn't classify it as... More

Management response:

Just as the decor is minimal, so is our lobster. We don't feel the need to dress it up, because we want you to be able to taste that fresh flavor. Our restaurant is small as well, but we're using this space in lieu of our location that burned down -- we hope that you understand. Yours, The Hooks More

Stopped to get a lobster roll on my way to the airport with a client. She loved it. She said she can't get Lobster like that back in Florida. Thank you for making my client happy :)

Came to Boston hoping for a good lobster roll. These are fairly subjective based on your preference for seasonings, amount of mayo and type of bread. That said, loved the lobster roll here. No crazy seasonings, not too much mayo, just really fresh lobster on yummy bread. If you are going to the Children's Museum or Boston Tea Party Ships... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
