No shortage on the lobster in the rolls. Best I've ever had. I also love how you can have a full lobster in minutes. Can't wait to return. This place is a must go if your stopping in Boston.

Stopped by James Hook for a quick lunch during a day of brewery hopping in Boston! When you walk inside the trailer you're immediately greeted by a HUGE tank of live lobsters and crabs. Very simple menu of chowder, lobster rolls, etc. My husband and I both had lobster rolls and it was the most delicious I've ever had! Super... More

Management response:

It's an honor to have given you one of the best lobster rolls you've ever had, too. We hope to see you back again one day soon! Yours, The Hooks More

We had walked past this place on ouy way to and from our hotel and decided to have a quick lunch, we were not disappointed. We only had the lobster rolls but these were absolutely lovely. If you fancy anything from the sea, then this is the place for a genuine pitstop. It's not a fancy restaurant or a hip... More

Management response:

really felt ripped off when I looked at my receipt and noticed I had been charged a $5 "deposit" for fork and claw crackers without any mention of this. When I returned them cashier seemed indignant and asked for my receipt. fortunately I still had it. food average but beware. Unfriendly service also.

Management response:

It's disappointing to hear that you feel that way. Our Fork and Claw Crackers are meant to be re-used, and putting a deposit on them ensures that we get them back at the end of the meal. We want to make sure that everyone has the utensils they need to eat while they're here, and this practice is pretty common... More

So we came in as obvious out-of-towners. We were on our way to the airport and wanted to get some authentic local seafood before we left. We came in with luggage in tow. Seeing how tiny the place was I was sure we would get eye rolls, but not at all the case. The staff was friendly and the food... More

Management response:

Kellie, it doesn't matter if you're from out of town -- all that matters here is that you enjoy yourself. We're really excited to see that you and the kids had a lot of fun, and we can't wait to see you back for more when you're in Boston again. Yours, The Hooks More

Delicious Lobster but disappointed with the Service. It was clear that I was from out of town but the cashier "David" offered little assistance. I ordered a lobster & a water then paid cash. My food arrived but no napkins & it was obviously going to be a messy affair. I asked for some but was brusquely told "over there!"... More

It sounds like there were a few miscommunications here, and we're sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable while you were here. We like to consider our craft a simple one, and if you have questions in the process, we're here. However, if you want a true Boston experience, we're always here for you. The pick deposit is refundable, we... More

My son and I wanted to have Lobster rolls and Lobster chowder for brunch on our weekend visit to Boston and this is the place referred by a friend. The place is small but we were lucky to get one table inside, otherwise we couldn't sit outside on that rainy day. The menu is well mentioned on the upper side... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
