Booked a reservation online on Open Table for 6 people and had one person completely back out and 2 people that were uncomfortable sitting indoors. We called Basile in the morning to potentially cancel the reservation due to unforeseen issues that rose due to COVID...and was told there would be a $50 per person cancellation fee ($300 for 6 people). I have never seen a restaurant charge such an outrageous fee for cancellations. Most restaurants do not charge a fee at all! After learning about the fee, we tried to talk to the hostess there and she was really nice and understanding of the situation and was trying to help us out so we can move outdoors but seemed hesitant about how the manager would handle the situation. She was accommodating and patient with us and gave our phone number to the manager, Reto so we can directly explain the situation. The first thing that the manager said when we got on the call was "Did you have a question about your cancelled reservation". Now at this point, we hadn't even cancelled our reservation, we were trying to see if there was an opportunity for some accommodation given the circumstances with COVID these days. The owner straight up said that there was nothing they can do and that there was no middle ground as we were trying to express our concern, given it was my wife and I's birthday celebration. About 2 minutes after the call, I saw that there was the outrageous charge on my credit card. AVOID this place. Management is rude and seemed like the hostess was scared of her manager. Nobody wants to work in a place like that. Never even thinking about going to this place ever in my life.More

Ate here twice on a recent business trip to Boston. Very happy with the discovery as BASILE has excellent Italian food. The rigatoni bolognese was superb. Al dente pasta and a very flavorful sauce. My soup on a cold, windy Boston night was a delicious...Veal Chop soup - very good. I highly recommend this entire. Location is good too - in Boston’s Back Bay Area. ~200 feet from the Loews Hotel with other Boston restaurant mainstays such as Mistral or Grill 23 equal distance away. I look forward to returning.More

Although it is an "Italian Kitchen," Basile is not the place to go if you are seeking a standard "Red Sauce" style Italian restaurant. Yes, they do have Chicken Parmesan on the menu, but that's about where the comparison ends. Basile is more "Northern Italian"...in style and quite good. A number of other reviews have criticized the service, but I have to say from start to finish our server and management were excellent. They were attentive without being intrusive, and enjoyed spending time chatting. It was a really pleasant experience and not what other reviewers had led me to expect. As far as the food, it was a little "hit and miss." The standout dish for us was the Pomodoro Mozzarella Burrata, an appetizer made with homemade burrata (a very soft, creamy and mild cow's cheese), served with tomatoes and basil and finished with olive oil and fig balsamic reduction. It was incredible and fabulous. I will never find a caprese salad that could surpass this. On the other hand, the meatball appetizer was a bit of a disappointment. The marinara was fantastic, but the meatballs themselves, although tasty, seemed a little dry and over-cooked. I had the cioppino for my main course. The amount of seafood as well as the selection were very generous. The scallops were especially good, perfectly cooked. The broth was a little salty, and I would have liked to see a little more tomato paste in the sauce, but it was good. My wife reported that the grilled asparagus side was tasty too. The ambiance is first class, and we took the opportunity of a mild Fall afternoon to dine outdoors. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience. I'll certainly be back. Perhaps to try that Chicken Parm...More

We were there on Boston Restaurant Week. We went to the restaurant early. We were the only people in the place. My wife had clam chowder that was different that any other place. It was really good with an Indian flavor. I had the arugula...salad. Excellent. My wife had the lamb bolognese with rigatoni and I had Indian + Italian ravioli. Again, different but really good. For dessert she had the vanilla creme brulee and I had the Tiramisu. Both were excellent. The reduced portion size was right up our alley as we are small eaters. We'll be back.More

Dinner at Basile on a snowy Saturday evening was just right. The dining room is lovely, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. I had the short rib pappardelle and my husband had the rigatoni bolognese. Both delicious. From drinks to...dessert, the experience was well worth it.More

Basile is not located in the hubbub of the North End, Downtown, or Back Bay which may be a plus depending on your disposition. The food was all delicious. The starters (meatballs; lentil soup) were actually the favorites of the night. The papardelle with short...rib was tasty, but note that it is definitely a meat sauce more than a tomato sauce. The cod was well prepared with the Brussels sprouts and heirloom carrots stealing the show. I would recommend a stop here if you are in the area looking for a solid meal!More

We made reservations for a Saturday night. Boston, as always, very crowded so expect the valet to be $20. Our table was near the kitchen so you could see the people working and preparing meals which we enjoyed. I suggest in the winter not to...get a table near the door since you feel the cold air every time it opens. Service was exceptional. Food was good My wife had a Pasta special and I had the Chicken Parm. Probably one of the biggest pieces of chicken I’ve ever seen. Costs of bottle of wine and food are reasonable.More

First time at this place. We picked it based on Trip Advisor reviews, and it lived up to its billing. We had starter salads and shared a rigatoni main course. That was plenty of food. All was well prepared and served with effective and friendly...service. Prices were reasonable for a high end in-town place. We have eaten in much more expensive restaurants in Boston where the food and service were nowhere nearly as good. Only caveat: I forgot to ask for a quiet table, and we were surrounded by noisy groups.More

No, there is none. It looks to be a publicity stunt by restaurant owners to boost image.
