About
Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

Ordered Caprese Salmon entree (recommended by Jordan, Bartender) and partner ordered grilled shrimp Cesar salad. Salmon was terribly fishy and shrimp was tough. This is not the same Lobster Trap I’ve known. The best part was the Bloody Mary I ordered after seeing another couple...order it. We tried during the Summer months and thought we had just hit a bad night but obviously not. We won’t be back.More

This was our most expensive meal of the trip but it did not live up to the reviews. My wife had the lobster Newburg and said it lack the flavor punch of others she has had. My whole lobster came out cold and without any...utensils to eat it with. They were super busy so staffing may have been part of the issue.More

Superb service, but food quality mixed. Mostly very good, but texture of crabs was grainy and they did not taste fresh. Lobster excellent, but Panko tail a little over-cooked. Shrimp good. Oysters Rockefeller decent. Allergy accomodated well.

We came here for lobster, of course. Lobsters are super fresh and delicious. It’s very satisfying! Our friends got lobster and Alaska king crab legs combo, it’s so tasty she felt like crying :)) They have live music, it’s a popular restaurant. There are few...outdoor tables, it was raining the night we were there, so we sat inside which was fine.More

I stopped in while at an anesthesia conference at the Marriott. It was before hours and they said call when it is open and see if there is a cancellation. I called . They said no reservation for a single , and no table for...a single. They said I could sit at the bar and have a meal if there is room. Maybe my name sounds too Jewish. There is a famous film producer - a distant relative, so a distinct possibility. Anti-semitism is on the rise. I don't need good seafood dishes at that high a social price. I will also tell my friends. never heard of that ind of behavior before.More

I ordered steamed clams, stuffed mushrooms, and a ceasar salad to take to my B&B. The hostess was efficient, friendly, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend eating here.

This was our first visit to The Lobster Trap but will not be our last. My family has been coming to Asheville almost 20 years and I wish we had tried a little sooner.

So many good reviews but we were so disappointed. Lobster Bisque soup and stuffed mushrooms lacked any flavor. Scallops and Snapper were fine. Ordered a vodka on the rocks with pimento stuffed olives but got blue cheese stuffed olives because they had no pimentos. Got...an added charge of $2 for two stuffed olives. Who does that? Not a good evening.More

We went to Lobster Trap on Tues..Excellent service and the the food was excellent. I had the lobster newburg. We decide to return to the fabulous restaurant so we made reservations for Thursday evening. I ordered the Lobster Newburg again as it was so good...on our previous visit. The food was good but the serving was half the size of our previous visit. The waiter was very average, not bother to ask if all was okay with our dinner. Not that it was busy as our reservation was for 5:30pm. Very disappointed. We will not returnMore
