Being from New England it's tough to compare Oysters in Asheville NC to what we get at home. That being said I thought they were very good. This was the second stop on our pub crawl and we were looking or a little something to eat so we tried the Oysters. They had a good selection from both New England... More

Three weeks ago, we traveled 3 hours to Asheville to have a birthday dinner with two of our closest friends at the Lobster Trap. Totally worth it, right? Well, not really -- Waiting 15 minutes after you sit down for your drink order (or even a water)? Ok, I can deal with that. Server not being familiar with the top... More

My family and I went here to celebrate three birthdays and I don't think we could have pick a better place!! We drove an hour to get to this little dive and it was well worth the adventure!! All of the seafood is beyond fresh and everything from the raw oysters to the lobster pasta was on point. I would... More

There were 5 in our party and we each ordered something different and shared. Everything was great. The sangria is to die for.

The lobster trap has been my favorite restaurant in Asheville for many years. I have celebrated many special occasions with family and had my first date with husband there. We recently chose to celebrate a friend's birthday that was visiting from out of town. We bragged on the way there about how great the food and service was only. We... More

Both husband and I had lobster rolls, fresh sweet lobster choice of sauce or dipping butter. I chose butter, but really didn't need it. Fresh sweet lobster, on the pricy side but worth it. We went on a Saturday at 6 no wait, very surprised! By the time we left line out the door.

I just left after what was supposed to be a special dinner with my sisters and mother for our moms 70th birthday. I went with the steamed lobster and thought it was very nice when our server offered to help get the meat out for me. When she was opening it up there was liquid black grossness inside. She told... Please accept my apologies for your dining experience. You definitely should have had a manager visit your table and I am very sorry about the crab legs. Unfortunately, it is possible to receive a lobster that has a black substance, although it doesn't happen often. This black substance is made of eggs that were resorbed. The female was caught when... Ask for Jessie as your server... and have Mike cook your lobster to perfection. Oh yeah, and the cioppino is to die for! Great food, great service and an excellent wine list. For dessert, try the bread pudding with either a port or the Oban 14 single-malt. I loved this restaurant!!

Description
Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.
