One of the great aspects of downtown Asheville is the number of independently owned restaurants to choose from. My wife and I both felt we found the top spot at The Lobster Trap. The service was friendly helpful from the time we walked in the door until the time we left. It has a great feel with live music that... More

Good oysters - presentation beautiful. Not a place to go if on a budget. Corona $7; red wine $10 glass. Oysters, a salad, and pasta with shrimp with 1 drink each was $63. Everything -including service from Maggie-excellent. Only criticism is the beer on tap was warmer than we like - so ask for a taste first.

Cannot say enough about the superb food, appetizers, desserts, and beverages. The prices were far more reasonable than I expected. The service was outstanding. We were lucky to have gone early enough and had called in 30 minutes ahead which got us seated right away. There was quite a line when we left!

This restaurant doesn't accept reservations, but they would allow you to call one hour in advance to put your name on the list. This seems to work well. We arrived waited a little while for a table but boy it was worth it. The hostess was friendly and our waiter Alexander was super good as he was very knowledgeable, friendly... More

Fresh oysters from Massachusetts in a land locked city that is harder to get to than London from Sacramento. Locally caught trout in a light white sauce with local greens and radishes. Crafted beers on tap and live jazz music. What else could be better?

We visited here recently on a Friday and arrived when it opened at 5. By the time we left around 6:30, all the tables were full and there is a reason why...the good is great and the service is outstanding. Our waitress, Jessie, was attentive to all our needs. They bring out a smoked flounder dip and herb with crackers... More

For those craving lobster, oysters and seafood - this is the best option in town. The seafood if flown in daily, the service is great. The restaurant offers a casual setting with pleasant live background music. Try the key-lime pie - it doesn't get any better!

This is not your usual funky Asheville place. The menu is raw bar and seafood - nothing pretentious. We always start with a dozen oysters and always get the lobster mac as a side to share. My wife had the Ahi tuna and I honestly can't remember what I had this time but it was good! :-) (I had a... More

The food and cocktails were absolutely delicious. Service was great. Location downtown is perfect to walk around before and after. Plenty of seating and nice casual atmosphere.

Description
Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.
