We were supposed to have brunch at Tupelo Honey because our friends wanted to eat there. I knew they would be on an hour wait on top of the fact that it was July 4th. Right next door was Mayfels who also had a good looking brunch menu. They had us seated outside within 20 minutes and service was prompt... More

This was all around much nicer than Tupelo Honey, which had been recommended to me. It's quieter, better service, better food, and much better coffee. The brunch was quite good.

Stumbled upon this gem. Had the shrimp and grits special....WOW! This has become the standard to which my husband compares all other southern style shrimp and grits! It's been several years since our visit, but it's still fresh in our minds! Can't wait to visit again.

We were originally going to eat at Tupelo, but it had a 45 minute wait so we walked next door to Mayfel's for the shorter wait. We were both happy we did, as the food and service was very good. They also had some unique menu choices.

Attempted to go to tupelos next door. It was packed. We had been walking for hours and just wanted to sit and eat dinner. My dad not being one who likes species selling mayfels was difficult. But it was close and available. And delicious!!!!!! I ordered the jambalaya! Wow. Perfect. To me at least. Right amount of spice and flavor.... More

My husband and daughter and I ate at Mayfel's this morning. We did wait about 20 minutes but it was not terrible since there was so much entertainment right across the street in the grove. The service was a bit slow and the waitress didn't come see us very often, but the food was excellent and we all enjoyed our... More

Enjoyed an awesome brunch at Mayfels. Biscuits and gravy, grits, amazing French toast, eggs of course and BEIGNETS! Also a great selection of sandwiches and other more lunch like fare, as well as more breakfast items. Cool place with interesting decor. Service was very good. The Biscuits were huge and wonderful.

Had a fantastic lunch at Mayfel's - warm, homemade pimiento cheese on fresh cornbread and a cup of watermelon-cucumber gazpacho. Topped it off with a Mayfelade - the perfect summer drink. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. I just wish we had gone back for breakfast.

Good biscuits and grits. Outdoor seating offers view of park and bluegrass buskers. Mimosa are nice size. It also has a bloody Mary bar.
