We've been here several times in the past though not in the last few years. A quaint place which we found to be small and dark we now recognize as being quite Japanese. That's what a few trips to Japan can do for you. We went again and found it to be brighter and with a larger menu than we... More

Having badgered various locals for the best sushi spot, consensus guided my wife and me to Heiwa Shokudo. We were enjoying an unanticipated getaway with our youngest, and this quiet, intimate spot seemed spot on. The restaurant is small, and that is exactly what we wanted. I don;t recall more than eight tables indoors, but there was additional seating outside.... More

Went there for lunch. Although the sushi was OK quality and the portion was fair sized, my meal was basically very unenjoyable. First I wanted to sit outside but because I was alone I couldn't take up a table for 4. Inside was pretty much empty and they could have given me the table and let the others who came... More

Excellent, Do Not overlook this little restaurant! It has a quaint cozy atmosphere. The sushi, rolls, and soup were absolutely delicious, without a doubt authentic Japanese. The menu was very extensive, offerings for anyone with both small and large portions. Also serving sake, wine, and beer. The food presentation was beautifully prepared. We were promptly received by staff upon walking... More

My husband goes to Japan often for business and he says this is by far the most atheistic and delicious Japanese food he's found in the states thus far. There food is so darn delicious, we've not tried anything that we wouldn't eat again and again, their sushi is out of this world. If you like Japanese food don't let... More

My friend and I came in on Thursday January 28 for lunch. We waited patiently until the server told us she would be with us in a minute. A minute turned into several, which is fine. We both work in the industry and understand being busy. She acknowledged another couple, who had come in after us. They said "they were... More

This is an unassuming, non-descript little place at the far end of Lexington Ave. The menu is large, varied and awesome! Everything from small to large plates, creative sushi combinations and hot pots. They serve alcohol and tasty teas and sake, of course! Don't miss this little gem when in Asheville. Great spot for vegetarians and vegans.

Food was not great, even miso soup wasn't very good. Seaweed salad was good. Dumplings were not. Music was terrible, loud, and annoying. Waitress was nice enough.

My husband and I had dinner during our visit to Asheville and it was delicious. The restaurant is tiny but cozy. The service was excellent with Nathan and Justine taking perfect care of us, always with a smile. I would definitely recommend folks to eat here and will return when visiting Asheville again.

Heiwa has an extensive menu, and is vegan-friendly. My favorite is the Godzilla rolls. Good selection of sake, as well as wine & beer. Food is fresh and tasty. Best spot in warm weather is the little outdoor patio.
