Portion was WAY smaller. Falafel was hard fried and not as tasty as a year ago. We've been going here for over 10 years. This time was the least impressive. Always surpassed our taste buds before. Disappointed. 😞

AMAZING...Need I say more?!?! Did not originally plan on eating here, but so happy we did! My husband and I enjoyed the Jordanian chicken, the fatayer, and the bacon-wrapped dates, finished off with some baklava. Everything was packed with flavor, cooked to perfection and just...melted in our mouths. The dates really surprised us with so many complex flavors, smokey, sweet, creamy! Yum! If you enjoy Hummus you won't get enough of this one, it was as soft and smooth as whipped cream. Recommend that you give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!More
We went for dinner and enjoyed the food. They serve small tasty portions. We had the lambchops with pomergranite sauce. It was delicious but the dish had four baby chops. Four chops is usually a main course meal but these were tiny and thin. We...ended up ordering a few more small dishes which were delicious.More
Excellent find the day after Christmas. Fresh and delicious. Server was excellent and attentive.we enjoyed the fresh hummus that came with our entrees, salads and fresh grilled meats.
Arrived 4 minutes late for a 7 pm reservation. Another couple was being seated. While that happen a women enter and apparently unaware stepped in front of us to see the hostess. After she was done we stepped up and we’re told our reservation was...given away 6 minutes ago. It was then 7:06 pm. The hostess had seen we we arrived prior and seem to realize it was our turn.No further explanation was given. An odd “smile” occurred from hostess. We were told she would callus if something came up. But she couldn’t predict if it would. We were 4 minutes late. We are interracial with a South Asia surname. Upsetting experience. Never in decade refused service for being 4-5 minutes late.More
The food not only tasted good but it was visually beautiful too. The service was friendly and personable. I had the Greek salad with lamb and it was fantastic. We also had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They were hot and freshly made. If...you get a chance to have a quick lunch here absolutely do it!More
Looking for gluten free for one of our group members can be a challenge, but she loved the gf pitas and even took some to go. We enjoyed the lamb, bacon-wrapped dates, hummus, and more. Live music and a belly-dancer made this memorable. Really great...service, too!More
The only thing better than the food here would be the people who prepare and serve it. The food is excellent. I have eaten here numerous times and brought several friends here. Always impressed with the quality and quantity. The folks who own JG are...super nice people. The servers are always attentive and professional. I highly recommend JG for lunch or supper.More
An Asheville classic! This place has been around forever, and the food proves why. Had the scrumptious Jordanian chicken plate and a perfectly flaky baklava for dessert. The traditional atmosphere, hard working staff and one-of-a-kind, stand-up owner makes this place a pleasure to visit!
The grape leaves and hummus were excellent. My pistachio encrusted lamb chops were good and very tender but I didn't see or taste any pistachios. My son enjoyed the three kabob special he had but the prime rib wasn't trimmed soon there was fat on...it.More
We ordered the falafel wrap and it was delicious! Very authentic flavor and I'd highly recommend. The dessert we had was also fabulous, but I can't remember the name--they were little bites of pastry, almost like little rose bites. When my husband lived in Asheville...20 years ago, this was a favorite lunch spot of his. It was fun to experience it with him, so many years later! Can't wait to go back on our next visit!More
For Lunch, it is busy… you will not get the proper attention or appropriate service. Shortage of manpower, like every where post-COVID. Food: the vegetarian plater: the baba Ganosh is really good. The Hummus is watered down. The stuffed grape leaves lack originality …. Very...mediocre. Tabouleh is good. Tahini salad needs to be fresh. Portions (large/regular order) is small; did not match the high price. The lamb kibbeh… is fresh, but the short cut/money saving of replacing the pine nuts with walnuts never heard of. It is a cultural disaster. The terrible…. By all means, was what they call “Lamb Gyro”…. For the love of god, please stop insulting Arabs and the Greeks… it is neither the Arabic Shawermah nor the Greek Gyro… call it whatever you want, but not what you claimed to…. This is a bad representation of the middle eastern culture and cuisine. Jerusalem is a name should be honored, not insulted.More
This has been one of our favorite restaurants for the last 20 years and we always took our visitors there to eat. Sometimes the service was good and sometimes not. At all. The food was always delicious. A couple years ago my daughter and I...went in and we had a waiter we had had before, not our favorite, our favorite has always been a waiter named Matthew, anyway we did not have a good experience. Sadly it turns out he was the manager. He was so rude to us, never came and asked if we needed anything, never refilled our drinks, and he acted like we were an imposition. We decided not to go back anymore, so we haven’t eaten there in two years. We did decide to go back recently and fortunately, to our delight, we had Matthew. He is the epitome of a great server. He explained all the dishes, brought us drinks, was courteous to us and made our dining experience wonderful. He talked us into trying the Turkish coffee. Wow! It’s fabulous, I suggest it with dessert! FYI: The service can be iffy, we would always ask to be in Matthews section but he didn’t work all the times we have gone. We have never had great service except for when we are able to get Matthew. The food is delicious, we love it, but the service isn’t always good. I can’t highly recommend this place anymore and we don’t take our guests there just because we don’t know how the service will be. It’s such a shame. If you go, try to sit in Matthews section for a wonderful dining experience. If you get the manager, leave.More
As a 30 + year resident of Asheville, this is hidden gem ! I've always had outstanding, freshly prepared, very satisfying and fulfilling meals here. The owner Frank and his team do a wonderful job preparing authentic healthy food that you'll always remember. Skip those..."highly ranked", overpriced restaurants down the street and sit down and enjoy a five star experience with great value! This is my number one favorite restaurant in Asheville.More
Came for the falafel and dolmades. Tried the lamb combo bowl, lamb gyro, and Greek salad. The falafel didn't seem freshly made (ie possibly prepackaged) and was overcooked. The dolmades had no flavor. The portion of lamb I received with my bowl was a toddler...size serving and a bit tough. The side of potatoes with the gyro were definitely not fresh, possibly frozen. And the pita bread was not homemade. Sadly this seems to no longer be the case for any Greek/Medi places we've tried for and wide. The quality overall was low for the high prices.More
