My daughter and I took a chance and went to dinner at Chestnut. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Used local farm sourcing and the menu changes monthly. Great place to eat in downtown Asheville.

Went to Chestnut a year ago when we traveled to Asheville, and wanted to eat here again. As good or better this time. All the food was delicious -- beet salad, lobster bisque, ravioli, petite tenderloin. And then we were still hungry, so we had...More

We didn't have to wait at all for a table. The restaurant looks very upscale, and we felt out of place dress code wise... The waitress we had was in the process of training some one, but she still managed to take care of anything...More

I would definitely recommending eating at the Chestnut when your visiting Asheville. Their take on Southern recipes was delicious.

Knowledgeable & friendly server. We had to wait for our drinks but were given a petite appetizer as compensation. The sweet corn & kale soup was good, the medium plates of goat cheese ravioli & bacon wrapped dayboat scallops were small portions but delicious.

We ate there on a Tuesday night in July. The place was packed when we arrived a few minutes before our 7:15 reservation, so we ordered a cocktail at the bar. Some cocktails are unique and interesting, others variations on old classics. we had a...More

Touted as superior, but my experience was negative. Very noisy, hard to hear the person next to me. Wines subpar and overpriced: viognier was rustic, rough and unblended, pinot noir at $34 was thin and sharp. "Gazpacho" was to have been made with beets, ok,...More

This is a very good restaurant and we had a lovely dinner here with friends a couple of weeks ago. The food was excellent but we would say a bit pricey for what you got - not disappointing but just not a high value place....More

Having lived in New Orleans, the shrimp and grits are a staple for me. Any time I see it on a menu, I typically order it. This is one of my top 2 places that serve an amazing shrimp and grits. The ambience is amazing...More

Chestnut is an American restaurant. We are in a 1920s era building in downtown Asheville, right across for the Aloft hotel and the double decker coffee bus. Parking is plentiful (and cheap) at the public deck under the Aloft Hotel.
