We have eaten here on their picnic tables in the corner of a strip center but take out during this time is more usual. The BBQ is very good and the sides and desserts are very good also. Eating onsite during Covid is on outside...tables in the small corner of a strip center (not recommended) . Might try again when inside dinning is available.More

Looking for a place to stop for lunch and based on the reviews the Black Bear BBQ was a safe bet. We were so wrong. The BBQ was not as good as Doughties BBQ and that is not saying much. You definitely need to plan...ahead because there are no restrooms and no dine-in. This is not a stop when you have been traveling. I wished there had been a more thorough review before we got off the road and saw that this place was hidden in a shopping center.More

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy our product. Try as we might, we know that we cannot please everyone and over the years we realize, especially, how subjective BBQ is for each individual preference. Regarding the...More

It’s become apparent to me that they will throw whatever they want in your takeout bag without warning you that it is not what you ordered. I’ve visited several times and not once has the order been 100% correct. I like the food, so I...come back. However I’m pretty fed up with never getting what I asked for. I’ve brought it up with the servers and they promise better service but have not delivered. Could be a great restaurant if they gave just a little more effortMore

I had traveled from PA to visit Family. Some of the Family and I decided to go for a joy ride around Asheville. My cousin wanted to stop some where to eat, he drove into this little shopping center and there was Black Bear BBQ....The food was excellent, I really suggest the Sweet potato crunch, in fact my cousins wife ordered it and we decided to order another it was so good! ha ha I believe we could have walked out the door with a gallon of it if we could. Have no idea what the last review was talking about (Laura) the type of review she left...was rude. By the way Laura...the restaurant was very clean, floor to the tables and we were met with friendly staff and our BBQ was very good and we liked how you can pick out your own sauce at the sauce table. I would recommend this place, we stopped for lunch and loved it!! A+More

After 3 visits, I won’t return. 1st visit: a small roach crawled over our salt shaker, we just got up and left mid meal. 2nd visit: “brat night” which includes a 2 1/2in brat. It was a joke for $10. 3rd visit: the absolute worst...Brunswick stew ever. My bbq didn’t cover the bottom of the bun. I even asked if that was normal, I guess they changed the buns recently. Sides are bland and little effort out into the menu.More

I asked the concierge at my hotel where the best BBQ in Asheville was. She sent me to Black Bear BBQ. Excellent choice. My only regret was that I didn't have time to eat there more than once. I had the pulled pork with a...sweet BBQ sauce, baked beans, Brunswick stew and cornbread. Very reasonably priced. I was happy with the moist and tender pork. I'll definitely go back the next time I visit Asheville.More

Asheville has lots of choices for barbecue. Black Bear ranks among the best. The chicken was really moist; the brisket delicious. Portions are not overwhelmingly large, but everything is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Keep an eye on the specials. On our recent visit...they offered creamed spinach made with goat cheese; not something you’re likely to find at other local places. While not on the beaten path, it is well worth finding!More

Thank you for your review. We are glad you found us and also appreciate some of the out-of-the-ordinary things we are doing over here. We love BBQ but also enjoy thinking outside of the box when it comes to creating delicious food.

... pulled pork and sides , amazing ! The meat was very tender and smokey. Sauces on the side a good idea, the spicey is so good . The potato salad was fabulous and the collard greens were done so well still fresh flavor and...tender . Corn bread was like mama's. What a hidden gem ! Great take out, the sausage is a winner, too . I just said my first time and they were so helpful to get me though the menu and their besties ! So friendly and appreciative customer service is great ! The Great suggestions were perfect . I'll be back!More

Stumbled upon this place by accident and decided to give it a try. I’m picky about BBQ and it’s not my favorite food but this bbq was nearly the best I’ve ever had. Several menu options to choose from and very reasonably priced. The Mac...and cheese was off the chain as well! And the broccoli casserole was really good too. Love that you have a variety of different bbq sauces to choose from. Will definitely make this a top on list to visit when I’m in Asheville.More

So I was kinda skeptical ain’t gonna lie, but I walked in and ordered the pulled bbq plate with two sides and sat down and within minutes my food arrived. They have several sauces to choose from and the bbq was phenomenal and the coleslaw...was perfect not the vinegar base UGHHHH taste. This is one you will have to try and you WILL NOT be disappointed. A definite for sure without a doubt I will be backMore
