The place is large, with a few seats on the street. We sat at the bar on two occasions during our stay in Asheville. They have live music many nights a week; $5 cover when we were there, well worth it. A pint of local beer is a good deal at $4.25 but the french fries were not that good.... More

Loved this place for the entertainment, good food ,friendly service and wall murals. We tried on three separate occasions to get a table here, third time lucky. So if you want to eat here, don't go at peak times or you may be disappointed.

Great local brews and good food, very comfortable and informal place. We went on Wednesday, Appalachian music jam night. Dozens of local musicians jammed for hours, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere. A must-see in Asheville.

Our first time in Ashville NC. We made an error and listened to a local. The bar was dark, the menu limited and the service mediocre. I think that is the standard atmosphere....unfortunately that was not what we were looking for our only night in town

Jack of the Wood draws a local crowd every night, the food is good, price is right, and the staff are friendly. The music scene blends some local bands with jam sessions, all in all a nice atmosphere.

We had dinner here and weren't disappointed, but wouldn't go back. There are such a huge number of restaurants in the area, I wish we'd picked a different one to try. The pub is dark and loud, which isn't bad. We had a hard time flagging down our server to place an order or get drinks. The food was not... More

Asheville has a unique artsy, mountain aesthetic, and it blends perfectly with a British pub setting in Jack of the Wood. We stopped in for a light meal and a beer and I almost don't see why we would need to visit any other Asheville pubs. My salad and porter were all I could ask of a light yet filling... More

Needed a good meal and a break after caring for a family member in the hospital. Look online for a brewery/Restuaraunt. Found a great review that looked interesting. Upon entry we were treated to a version of an Irish Jam session. 6 players sharing music. Great start to a great experience. We ordered the beer battered green beans. They were... More

We stopped here because we heard music playing. There was a group of people casually singing and playing their instruments which was nice and entertaining. The beer selection was good but the food was not. Ordered fish tacos that were probably the worst we've ever had. Service wasn't good either...waitress never asked how the food was (probably knew it's quality).
