Big menu and very tasty food. We love Thai food so we have plenty of experience with it. We had tofu Fresh Rolls, Shrimp & Chicken Steamed Dumplings and each had a version of Pad Thai. This was not my first visit here by any...means but my friend was new in town and we both enjoyed it very much. Fresh veggies, well fried tofu, gresh taste noodles and rice wrappers (rolls and dumplings) and great sauces. Their peanut sauce is amazing. They do tend to run on the mild side heat wise especially for a Thai place, and have plenty of chilis and such to spice it up to your taste. The staff is friendly and welcoming.More

Absolutely adore this gem of a place. My boyfriend and I come here often and it’s always the best. The service is quick and staff is very friendly. Would definitely recommend coming here if you’re in the area!

Will Never be Back. First with the good. We stopped in on Sunday afternoon. Restaurant was very clean. I ordered the pad Thai and my mom had the chicken Hibachi. The chicken on the hibachi was so tough it was not able to be eaten....My pad Thai was OK. Not much flavor. Spoke to the server who only came to bring water, take our order and bring our food. Had to get up and ask for water. He took 15 mins to bring our check. When we asked about the chicken he said we should have asked for more sauce and it would have tasted fine. Not acceptable. You couldn't even chew the chicken and he never offered more sauce. As we were waiting we talked to a few other tables. One couple said the place was good and tried it again today and it was terrible. Salmom tasted old. Will not be back. You should be able to chew your meat.More

2022 Suwana’s Thai Orchid Restaurant, Asheville This restaurant is located along the main Broadway Avenue in downtown Asheville. This clean and delightful restaurant is not large, but inviting nevertheless. It serves many of the traditional dishes that you would desire. We were lucky to come...in the later part of lunch and found a comfortable booth. My wife liked the Tom Kha soup. Not overly large bowl, she thought it just needed more vegetables. She also had the Vegetable Delight dish. The Brown sauce was a tad under welcoming. I liked the Wanton Soup. It had plenty of flavor. The Pad Z Ew was one of the largest dishes I ever had for lunch. It had good flavor. I ordered pork to the dish. There was enough to make two separate meals. Our bill was four dollars higher. At first we question the total. We didn't see the small red print at the top signifying price increases on the menu. Suwana Thai needs to change out their menu! I enjoyed Suwana’s Restaurant and would come back to this establishment. My wife, not so much. If you found this review “helpful” in any way, please press “Thumbs-upMore

Well, service was good but food was dissappointing. Went for dinner and had larb na and chicken basil. Neither one was spice even though they both had 2 pepper ratings. The prices were high for what you get and they charged extra for rice with...the basil chicken. Overall, passable as a meal, very disappointing as Thai food.More

Stopped in for a quick lunch and we were not disappointed. We were staying across the street at the AC hotel and the front desk recommended. Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the drunken noodles. Would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Thai restaurant.

I've lived in NY and Boston and food there is damn good. So, I'm picky. This place is as good as I've had Thai anywhere. At least with the dishes I love. I like mild spicy and they comply, every one of the stir-fry dishes...are delicious and always presented beautifully. The crispy rolls, the Thai Iced Tea, Pad Thai, and their soup is great, too. I've visited many times in the last 7 years and look forward to returning. It's a small place and I wouldn't want to go when it's crowded, so I usually go off-hours. I've had a late lunch and an early dinner and people watching from the window seat is great.More

Though I have eaten Thai food in many places around the world, Suwana Thai is right at the top for amazing flavors, quality cuisine and attentive service. The Crying Tiger salad is out of this world!

While visiting Asheville on vacation, friends who live here recommended Thai Orchid. It was a good pick. We shared a fresh roll with spicy peanut sauce, my wife had the tofu pad thai, and I had the pork red curry. All were quite good. They...offer a wide selection of beers, wines, and saki. Service was attentive and prompt. On a Saturday evening there were plenty of tables available without a wait. Expect to spend about $30 per person all in with entrees, apps, drinks, and tips.More

Normally I do not bother to complain but their attitude got me upset. We ordered the vegetable yellow curry dish, crab Rangoon and thai tea. $37. The tea was great, the crab Rangoon was tasteless but I let it pass because the sauce was adequate....The yellow curry sauce tasted watered down and the waitress informed us that they no longer include the white rice with the curry dish? That you have to pay an extra 1.50. I was in shock. That is an integral part of the dish. Are they going to charge us for a fork and knife next? I will never go back to a restaurant that penny pinches on basics. It ruins the entire experience. Increase your price but do not sacrifice the dish.More

We are a family of four(2 adults and 2 kids) and dined in this restaurant on Jul 3rd. When the check arrived, 20% gratuity (Total bill= $60, of which $10 gratuity ) was already added. I called the waiter who took our order and asked...about the gratuity charges. she did not have any valid answer. So I the waiter that I wanted to talk to the restaurant owner/manager After a couple of minutes restaurant owner/manager came and I asked the same question on why Gratuity was added. Initially, she said that it's a service fee and other restaurants nearby are also charging it. I then asked what is the service fee for..then she mentioned that it is a tip. I made my point very clear...that tips can't be added automatically to the bill. By looking at our skin color, she assumed that we were new to the country and started talking about American culture about tipping. I told her that I have been living in the USA for more than 15 years and aware of the norms on tipping. Then, immediately she shifted the topic and started saying that some Europeans eat food worth $100 and leave a tip of $1. Not sure why she said that though... The Owner/Manager did not like what I said about gratuity and told us "To never come back to this restaurant." She also mentioned that "if you don't want to pay gratuity, then don't pay and went away." Really, who in the sane mind would go back after having this experience. I am posting this, only because I want everybody who dines here, to be aware of what might be coming, if they question the so-called "gratuity charges."More

This was a great meal. We had a pad thai medium and a massaman curry hot. Both delicious. Their medium definitely has presence. The portions are quite large. I stuffed myself and unfortunately couldn't finish half of it. Lovely service. Recommend!
