Jettie Rae's was ranked highly with Trip Advisor so my wife and I decided to dine there one evening while visiting Asheville. For appetizers, we tried the Gambas Al Ajillo which are red shrimp, garlic, olive oil, preserved lemon and sherry bread. The shrimp were...quite tasty and worth trying. We had the Octopus A La Planxa which consists of octopus and potatoes with smoked paprika. The octopus was cooked perfectly and titillated your tongue. I am not sure how the potatoes added much taste or texture to the dish. The smoked paprika was faintly noticeable. We also had the Crispy Clam Strips. The clams were lightly breaded and had a wonderful seafood taste. We highly recommend this dish. For the main course, I had the Lobster & Shrimp Roll. I have eaten many lobster rolls over the years. I have eaten lobster rolls from food trucks, restaurants and perhaps the best ones in Maine. The lobster and shrimp roll at Jettie Rae's is average at best. It lacks the depth of flavor and punch of a great lobster roll that begs you to savor every bite. I tasted mostly shrimp but little lobster. It was difficult to distinguish the taste of the shrimp from the very small pieces of lobster. My guess is the combination of shrimp and lobster was about four (4) ounces. For $33.00 it was overpriced and I would not recommend it. My wife had the Shrimp Salad. The portion of shrimp was small. Nonetheless, the remoulade sauce on the shrimp definitely sparked my culinary senses and was very good. Service was excellent. The choice of beers and wines are fairly limited. But you can definitely find a beer to meet your taste buds and quench your thirst. You can sit outside on the patio or dine indoors. My overall recommendation is it is worth trying the assorted appetizers on the menu. I would stay away from the Shrimp and Lobster Roll. I have tasted a lobster roll from a food truck that was better tasting and less expensive.More
