Service was far less than most restaurants in the country. No one asked if everything was enjoyable or asked if we wanted another drink. Food was very tasty and in abundance but again not the best meal I have had in the country. Wine menu...was nonexistent and liquor and beer selection was limited. What did I miss on this being best restuarant in the country as determined by James Beard?More

I understand the hype about this place--everything we ordered was outstanding. I highly recommend the Bhel Puri and the Cholle Curry and Rice. Note: if you access the menu via the QR code at the hostess station, it will reveal a menu for special diets...(I'm vegan) that is not available on the paper menu at the table.More

After being named the best restaurant in the USA by James Beard, I couldn't wait to try it. I ordered the butter chicken, and was asked if I wanted Naan with my lunch. The waitress did not tell me there was a $2.99 charge for...the bread on top of my $17.00 entree. I love Indian food, but my dish was just OK. Not much chicken in the sauce, the soup was not tasty, and it was served on a silver platter. I have to say I was disappointed with the food. This is definitely not even the best place in Asheville, let alone the entire USA. I don't get it, but James Beard no longer means great food to me.More

This Indian fare has long been a favorite. Plenty of outdoor seating. Varied menu that the servers are happy to help you with. Reasonably priced and very good. A good choice.

Believe the glowing reviews - Chai Pani is worth waiting in line for over an hour! You will be happy you did and not mind the wait. We had Green Mango Chat, Corn Bhel, Kale Pakoras, Butter Chicken & Vada Pav. Least favorite was the...Pav. Our fault for not asking questions or reading the very descriptive menu carefully, but it was still delicious! Looking forward to my next visit. Surprisingly affordable including drinks. Our group of four was not the first in line arriving just after 5pm (opening at 5:30), and were able to sit at 6 pm. Our food came out orderly and fast. This restaurant delivers on quality food and impeccable service! Wonderful to see many families enjoying shared plates.More

We read several raving reviews, watched travel vlog recommends and saw mention of prestigious accolades so were surprised that our experience wasn’t jaw-dropping. The food is definitely good and absolutely worth a visit. We just can’t say it’s worth a long-line-wait. Had we waited in...line, we would have definitely been disappointed.More

Indian with a modern twist. The food was excellent. We loved the decor. Something different from the one painting of the dancing women. Restaurant is a bit small so can be loud, but what the heck. It's worth it for the food and great service.

We went for lunch on the advice of a local. It didn't dissapoint. We had to wait (we were warned there is always a wait, but it's worth it). We got a text and a place at the bar fairly quickly. The bartender was friendly...and knowledgeable. We ordered a curry entree and the special. Both delicious, flavorful, generous in portion size, and reasonably priced. They gifted us a potato-based appetizer (I think #2 on menu) and it was fantastic. A flavor explosion. Highly recommended.More

I had two contrasting experiences on my two visits. On day one, I took carryout there was a long wait time. The takeout service was excellent, and the food was good, even though they gave one item wrong and refunded it. I went back two...days later, and this time we dined in. The service was awful. Sometimes it's not your day, but there are some basic expectations when working in the service industry. The waiter walked away in the middle of the request and did not bring back the item requested. The food was good. I would say four out of five dishes were good. The appetizer portions were much bigger than the entrees, and the sides were small. The kheema pav was terrific, so was the bhel. The Goan fish curry was a disappointment, as you don't put fried fish in a sauce. The wraps tasted great too.More

We got there early on a Saturday. The ambiance was great and the restaurant quickly filled up with couples and families. I got a lime Ricky to drink which was a bubbly raspberry soda. We ordered the sev potato Dani puri which was surprisingly cold...and amazing. I can not describe what it was except that it was flavorful and refreshing. I also got the crispy Masala fish roll which was had a hefty amount of fish and slaw. My partner got the butter chicken and refused to leave until he cleaned his plate. Definitely would recommend, we are considering visiting its sister restaurants in the area.More

Went to Chai Pani with family a few days ago for lunch. The food was fantastic and our server was excellent! We especially enjoyed the SPDP appetizer, which we shared. So delicious and beautifully plated! I had the butter chicken for my meal, which was...also delicious and beautifully plated. My family enjoyed their meals, as well -- a chicken dish and a fish dish. I also had the Baby Tiger drink, which was yummy! I recommend!More

This is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been. Love the casual dining setting! The food was way exceeding my expectation. Never tried puri before. But fell in love with Indian street food now. We also purchased Chai Pani sweatshirt and...tshirt. Such a cute store!More

Very interesting, tasty, well-prepared food. Definitely tried Indian food I had never had before. The fish sandwich is a must-get and the salad is excellent. Portions are large!

I have never really had a long wait. I go multiple times a year; holiday season, summer time.. you should be fine if you're in a group of 5 or less.

When you say "you", you mean the restaurant. "You" need to pose that question to the restaurant, not here.
