I have been to the Admiral 3 times now and it is as steady as a rock. I think I have had everything on the menu at this point and most things twice. It is one of my favorite restaurants, and that's what I do, travel and eat. The sweetbreads are the best I've had anywhere, perfectly cooked. Froglegs, dito.... More

I took my wife here for our very first date and we continue to go back for special occasions. The food is always amazing, and on weekends they have a dance party after 10pm. Make reservations weeks in advance if you want to get a table. If you're lucky you can pop in and get a seat at the bar... More

The Admiral was recommended by our VRBO landlord. What appeared to be a 'hole in the wall' restaurant surprised us by how excellent the food was. A must for anyone living or visiting the Asheville area.

We had a birthday celebration that was absolutely wonderful. The appetizers, entrees and desert all surpassed expectations. We will defiantly go back.

The exterior of the restaurant looks seedy. You should expect to park along the road in this struggling area of Asheville, or down the residential side street if the 3-car parking lot is full (and it will be). The interior of the restaurant looks like, and probably was, an old bar. THEN, look around you at the plated food being... More

We ate here during a recent trip to Asheville and tried about 5 small plates. The flavors and creativity cannot be beat. We will talk about the meal for a long time. Get the warm buns if they are on the menu!

This was one of my favorite meals ever. This place is small and the outwardly appearance is dumpy - at best. But, wow, the taste and smell of the food are spectacular. My suggestion is to try it all! We had numerous small plates and appetizers - all were amazing. My only regret was that I couldn't continue eating through... More

My fiancé and I made a reservation here a week before our first trip to Asheville. It turns out our AirB&B was just down the street, so it was very convenient! A friend had recommended The Admiral for more "foodie food." It definitely didn't disappoint. The beef tartare was probably our favorite. The only frustrating thing was that even though... More

This is not a quick place to stop, it's an experience so don't be in a hurry. Any expectation for expediency is not doing yourself (or your pocketbook) any justice. A few points to keep in mind: Get a reservation - it's small. Go mid-week and head there early - it's a bit hidden and parking is not the easiest.... More

The Admiral is in a small cinder block building with a small sign and is in an out of the way location. The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Presentation and descriptions by the staff add to the experience. The beef tenderloin tartare was fantastic and delicious with a creative set of ingredients. The Chocolate and Peanut dessert is...
