My wife and I had One night in Asheville NC and read the reviews. We thought it would be a fish restaurant. We were wrong. They had a good variety of fresh produce and meats combined in unique fashions. We enjoyed the pork belly on steamed buns and the beets with crumbled beets and heirloom tomatoes. This dish had excellent... More

Everything started great but quickly went downhill. Oysters & scallops were delicious. Octopus came out and was burnt- we have pictures to prove this. The chef should have never plated it or sent it out. We asked what made a particular beer $20 a glass & the answer was short, curt and a put down to us. Decided to not... More

This was highly rated restaurant but I wouldn't rush back. Service was lacking and think kitchen was mixed up. Husband ordered his blackened fish extra spicy but it came totally mild. We ordered green bean/bacon side dish; never arrived. Server said it was coming. Asked again and then it arrived after dinner plates were cleared. The green beans were totally... More

It had been several years since our last visit to the Admiral and unfortunately our previous fond memories were not renewed, the Admiral has declined. In terms of food the cauliflower, ceviche, and gnocci were all tasty but nothing special. The Spanish octopus was not worthwhile as it was all chewy tentacles and little meat. But our major complaint would... More

I always thought the best Shrimp and Grits that I ever had came from Charleston-not anymore-This place has them beat. The place doesnt look like much from the outside (Neighborhood is up and coming) but the inside along with the waitstaff are the best. Make sure to make reservations on the weekends or you'll have a wait.However-it is worth the... More

The restaurant is small and because of the eclectic fusion menu that changes daily, in high demand. When I was unable to find a Friday 7 p.m. reservation on Open Table, I called the restaurant. The neighborhood surrounding the restaurant is sketchy; homeless beggars and lots of people loitering. Parking is nonexistent. When we arrived at 7 p.m. the place... More

My husband & I were in Asheville & were lucky enough to land reservations at The Admiral. As many reviews have said, the actual building both inside & out is not much to look at but the food is outstanding interesting & creative!! Try the appetizers & Small Plates to share with the table. We had the Veal Sweetbreads to... More

The Admiral is located just outside of downtown Asheville. At first we weren't sure about the location however to our surprise it was one of the most delightful restaurants we've experienced. The food choices varied with a unique selection of dishes that catered to taste buds and dietary needs. We highly recommend the Admiral. Too bad we don't live locally... More

Casual small upscale unassuming restaurant in West Asheville. Delicious servings in ample portions. Good service. Try the Mac & cheese. Reservations a good idea. Oh, BJ's is the food mart next door.

We would have never found this restaurant. Fortunately, friends we were traveling with knew it and had been there before. You may know the old saying, "Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover". That is the case with The Admiral. When we arrived for our dinner reservation at 7:30, we were promptly seated. Our server was great. We tried a... More
