The ratings and popularity of the Admiral say it all. A small and cozy space with an amazing chef and attentive service. Parking is a pain as there is none, other than small neighborhood streets.

Our friends decided to meet at The Admiral for one of their birthdays and as in all visits to this restaurant there were no disappointments. The Admiral always provides great food and service in a very casual setting. The food was excellent including the fried oysters (one of my favorites and the steak tartar. It does not get much better... More

We have heard great things about the Admiral since we moved here...and finally got our butts in this January. What took us so long! We had an incredible meal. Interesting and varied menu with good prices; only 2 entrees were over $20. My husband ordered the steak tartare and the octopus. He loved both dishes and would definitely order them,... More

We could not have had a better experience. They held a quiet table for us and didn't rush us even though they were full. Our waiter was excellent. Our drinks were excellent. Our meals were excellent. Our desserts were excellent. Some standouts: the arugula salad--complete with humboldt fog cheese, the rack of lamb, the Spanish octopus, the pimento mac 'n... More

My husband and I were told by numerous people to eat here on our trip to Asheville and make sure to make a reservation. This was hands down one of the best meals we've ever had. We seriously considered trying to make another reservation while we were there so we could come back the next night to try more items... More

We visited the Biltmore Estate and wanted a good meal after for our brief visit to Asheville. From the reviews online, the Admiral looked like a promising choice. We called and were told no tables until nine but we could sit at the bar. Went there around six and were seated at a table. The place doesn't look like much.... More

We had our reservation wrong and showed up an hour early. They were wonderful and set us up by the fireplace with cocktails until they could get table ready. They sat us 30 mins earlier than our reservation which was great! I had the Admiral Manhattan which was one of the best Manhattans I have ever had. As for the... More

This restaurant does not look like a restaurant from the outside but step inside and try the food. We tried several small plates and all were fabulous. Best steak tartare we have ever had. Brussel sprouts, escargot, lobster pie, duck, scallops and bread all packed with flavor! Great service, great food, highly recommend!

My daughter lives in Asheville and her roommate works for The Bull and Begger, I looked at their menu and didn't see much that sparked my interested, so he suggested we try The Admiral. I am so glad he suggested it. We made our reservations a day before and had to take the earliest spot at 5:30pm. It took awhile... More

If you can find this place, I highly recommend it. Just be sure to make reservations several weeks in advance. The Admiral is the consummate hole in the wall It is a small concrete box painted white and gold. Don't let that scare you! It is so worth it! We ordered three appetizers and three small plates. We consider ourselves... More
