Visited again on our latest trip to Asheville as the snowstorm was just winding down. The Dal and Spinach soups reeally hit the spot. Tried the Vegetable Chilli on the back page for the first time. Excellent! Very mild, with a wonderful tomato flavor. Carrot...and rice pudding deserts also very tasty. But just as important, the atmosphere is so peaceful. We really felt like we were in a temple devoted to nourishing both body and soul. Highly recommend you give it a try when in Asheville. I know we will be back.More

Busy weekend, concerts in town, traffic everywhere and people all over the place. That was what we experienced before walking into Kathmandu. Once inside, everything melted away outside and we were transported away from the noise, the bustle of the streets outside. Decor was rich,...nicely and tastefully decorated. The wait for a table for two was minimal. Once seated we placed an order for drinks and starters. Then came the meal. We opt'd to go simple, just a few dishes that were more the flare and flavor of the style of restaurant. Truly amazed, wonderful meal. Great people, great conversation and even with all the chaos we never felt pressured, rushed or ignored. Next trip to Asheville and we are trying this great restaurant at least once more! Ignore all the negative comments - every place on the planet has good/bad days. Go for the food, the aura, the ambiance. Stay. Sit. Enjoy. Relax people, this is a great place!More

Walked into the place at d spur of the moment we were attracted by the ambience & menu of the place ! The statue of the Buddha beckoned to us ! Ordered lots of dishes ... the hits were Jal zeera & Chau Chau noodles...( they were hot & spicy .. like d ones we get in Indian street food) . The garlic naan & chicken curry was good as was the Samosa chaat , the momos arrived a lil late but we’re good. .More

We were in search of a restaurant open for lunch in downtown Asheville on Christmas Day. Kathmandu Kitchen was one of several open spots, and I'm glad we picked it! Good flavorful food, vegan choices. Enjoyed the atmosphere.

I think this place gets overlooked because it is sandwiched between other more popular places and it does not have a flashy facade, but eating here has never disappointed me. The place is decorated much like an Indian shrine; not fancy, but colorful and spiritual....Service can be slow when they are understaffed, but the food always is first rate and simply presented. Great vegetarian options. Your patience will be rewarded.More

I have been to Kathmandu a few times for the lunch buffet during the week. I was pleasantly surprised to find they were offering the buffet on a SUNDAY, so we went yesterday and had a glorious meal. From the minute you walk into this...place you know it is going to be a wonderful experience. The music, the decor and the aroma of the food are all cues that you are in the right place for a lovel meal. I always have a mango lassi because I love them. They always provide naan bread as part of the buffet, which is great. The offerings on the buffet line always vary. On our last visit all but two of the items on offer were vegetarian, so our vegetarian friends with us were very happy. I particularly enjoyed the 9 vegetable dish they served. This restaurant is near Pritchard Park downtown, so on-street parking is very scarce, but there is a parking lot (for a fee) right around the corner so don't be put off by lack of parking.More

I’ve never been here in the months I’ve lived here and now I have. I can’t tell you how amazing this food is in a review. I can only tell you I was having an out of body experience. It was very good. I had...the buffet and an iced chai and loved it. I apparently thought the dessert they provided at the buffet was a salad topping. It wasn’t. But it was really good on my salad. “You know something is good when you put it on the wrong thing and it doesn’t taste bad” -my co worker. I had a crunchy dessert. The staff was kind. The atmosphere made me feel like I was on a pit stop on the way to a spiritual enlightenment in Himalayas. (Racist?) DONT care. The food was terrific. Coming back again.More

My wife and I both ate Indian food. Will have to try the Nepalese dishes next time. Each of us ate at the lunch buffet which was the best value and had the most options. Desserts, Indian dishes, Mango Lassi. They serve plain Naan's, but...try the Katmandu Naan's with cashews and raisins. They are to die for!More

I had the Malai Kofta a vegetarian meatball in a rich cream sauce and loved it. Never had that before. Also the Momo which is a favorite of mine from Nepal and it was good. The food at the buffet looked delicious but we went...for something different. Right on Patton street a few blocks from Pack Square and worth the try.More
