We just loved the food here. Got the ribs with blueberry chipotle sauce. They were fall off the bones good. The sides were also very delicious. Coming from the North were are not used to having all the great side offerings... collards, grits, cornbread etc. We will definitely return our next visit to Asheville.

BBQ is not foreign to us in the south -- Nashville, where i live, has some great BBQ. But this restaurant was incredible, with wonderful tastes and fixings that make it worth the drive, and the lines, to enjoy some of the best BBQ around.

Wonderful ribs that I call "wet" because they were served with sauce already on them. Can order 12 or 6 or 3 as I did for lunch. They have a cucumber salad side dish that was very tasty. An informal fun place with a line out the door.

I couldn't wait to try the Hogzilla sandwich at 12 Bones in NC! It was magnificent. Most of the people in the place had the same idea. They must sell lots of Hogzillas. The cheese grits were a side dish and they lived up to their Southern name...oh so cheesy. I had to take mine to go in a box... More

We were exploring the lovely River Arts district when we fell upon the famous 12 Bones Barbecue. We had a great lunch there, real southern style, and ate outside on the screened porch. Meat was excellent, great variety of sauces/flavors and side dishes were also great including greens, grits and other southern favorites. Highly recommend this place.

this place is exactly what a barbecue place should be! It was straightforward, basic, great tasting food! Everything was delicious, everyone was friendly, and it was quick.

The pulled pork was pretty good. Hubby had the chopped brisket, which was just chopped meat in sauce, like a sloppy joe. By far the best thing I ate was the corn pudding side. I'd never had that before and wow, it was so good. I need to find that recipe!

If you enjoy tasty grits, then I recommend them at 12 Bones with any meal. I go back for the ribs and grits.

You might think that's a wild claim, but when there are 6 or 7 flavors of dry rubs and just as many sauces, and the meat is falling off the bones, it's hard to imagine you can find better barbecue. Their sides are also delicious. If you don't feel like ribs, try the BLT. It gives new meaning to the... More

Go for lunch and enjoy! Located in the river arts District, they have their own parking lot. Better quality overall than the chain Moes or Luellas.
