This little hole-in-the-wall Jamaican restaurant yielded a fantastic meal. We started with Conch Fritters. Four were served on a skewer with lime and a spicy Jamaican slaw. Very tasty with just a small kick from the slaw. My wife had Leon’s Legumes, a vegan dish...with about a half-dozen carefully stewed vegetables. I had the Jerk Chicken Combo. I stopped trying to identify all the different spices in the “Jerk” after about five minutes. Easily the best jerk chicken I’ve ever had. The owner is the server and greeter. He made us feel immediately welcome and chatted with us briefly throughout the meal. All in all a wonderful evening for under $50.More

Found Yardie Spice on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. Very small hole in the wall place, but don't let this scare you. Seated at a hightop table and was greeted by the owner. He told us all about the menu and gave...us several recommendations, including his, his wife's (the chef) and their daughter's favorite menu items. My wife had the Salmon dish and she was very happy with this. I did the Jerk Chicken. It was excellent and had a very good spice to it, not over powering but just the right heat. The spicy slaw was just that spicy and good. The owner checked on us several times and we very much enjoyed the conversations with him. It was a wonderful dining experience and we will definitely return if we are back in the area.More

Little did I know as I approached the visually unappealing facade with some trepidation what a delightful experience awaited us for the next couple of hours. Not only was the food superb, the friendliness of everyone from owner/chef/waiter to the customers enhanced the evening. I...can't say enough about the owner. He has assembled a great, and surprisingly varied menu with wonderful quality of ingredients, tastes, and textures. But more than that, he's a really enjoyable person. After all, who would take you out front to point you to a local grocery store so you can get beer/wine to complement your dinner, then open a couple of the three beers we brought back, immediately putting the other one, unasked, into the fridge so it would be cold when we'd finished the other two? Patrons are both locals and tourists but there's an almost constant parade of locals coming in to pick up to-go orders. That's a good thing, because if they stayed, the wait could be easily over an hour as it's quite small; maybe a half dozen tables. Having eaten our way through the Keys on this trip, we easily vote his conch fritters far above anyone else's. Many (most?) of the menu items can be spiced up or down, making it much easier for wimps like me. Everything is prepared and cooked with care. It's really impressive.More

If you're driving through Homestead on your way to visit the Everglades, be sure to put this little piece of love on your list. It's easy to miss as you're driving, so be sure to put it in the sat nav. The owner was warm...and welcoming ... the jerk chicken plate was amazing ... as was everything he recommended. Customers were coming and going and wanting to let you know what their favorites were. I little local, laid back cozy place with a great vibe. Go!More

Had a great experience dining at Yardies. We really enjoyed the owner JP who chatted with us and shared helpful menu guidance. Don’t miss the fruit juice with ginger or the conch fritters. Food is all made from scratch and delicious.

From the outside, we almost decided to pass. I’m so glad we took a chance and actually entered. This place is very small, family-run and lust feels very authentic. Food was AMAZING. Host was great. Loved everything about this place. We will be back.

My wife and I were traveling through Homestead and thought we would give this place a try based on great reviews... unfortunately due to a plumbing problem that day the dining room was closed.. as we sat in the car out front to consider a...different place the owner walked out with a large plate of jerk chicken and rice to try compliments of the house...Jerk was spicy and wonderful but graciousness of owner was equally special .. hope to get a opportunity to try a full meal experience if we are ever passing through in the future.More

I had Leon’s legumes, which my sometimes picky toddler son devoured half of (a good sign of a tasty dish). The passion fruit key lime pie and coconut rum cake were also delicious. The owner is very friendly and explained the menu in context of...his family’s favorite dishes. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!More

Stopped here for dinner one night in Homestead. We ordered the Jerk Chicken Wings, Jamaican Curry Goat, and the Griot Pork. Got coleslaw and a salad for sides. The food was fantastic. It was one of my favorite meals this trip. We did not get...rice, since we are on Keto. Really easy to make a lot of dishes Keto friendly. Just dont get rice. Again, the food was absolutly fantastic. We will be stopping here again next year!More
