We go out to dinner all around the DC area, and go often. But we live in McLean and Assaggi Osteria is one of our two go-to restaurants in McLean. The food is always good, and very traditional. Some pasta dishes are a sort of...More

Assaggi is one of my wife's and my regular go-to restaurants. It is a restaurant that competes well with the D.C. area's growing number of very good restaurants. We especially like sitting at the bar - which is warm and inviting - with good company...More

In an area like DC where every new restaurant is "nouveau-this" or "fusion-that" (don't get me wrong; I generally love the new restaurants too), there is a special place for a restaurant like Assaggi Osteria that still serves authentic style homeland dishes. In Assaggi's case,...More

Assaggi Osteria provides good atmosphere, attentive and friendly (but not overly so) service and a menu of favoraites combined with dishes not often found elsewhere. Better than average wine list. The bread is truly excellent. Reliable and more than sophisticated enough to take out of...More

Three of us decided to try Assagi during restaurant week. Two did the restaurant week specials and had innovative salads, lovely fish, and good deserts. The third did an "off the regular menu" and enjoyed delightful mixed salad and truly delicious veal ravioli. Definitely a...More

My friends are "regulars" here and suggested Assiggi for lunch. My salad and pasta dish were well prepared. The service was warm and welcoming. The wine recommendation was spot on. I plan to return for dinner.

Hooray...after years of trying, I finally found he worst food and service in Northern Virginia. This place really deserves a Black Ribbon. Obviously, it was"kitchen staff's night off." There were 7 of us and two waiters could not keep the orders straight. Nothing came out...More

Description
Domenico Cornacchia, chef/proprietor of Assaggi Osteria, taps into ages of ancestral Italian cooking each time he steps into his kitchen and brings a rich love of the cuisine that he so skillfully nurtured through the years. “Assaggi means tastings in Italian,” explains Domenico, “The concept of my menu is based on a variety of items that may be ordered in smaller portions.” Before deciding to pursue his dream of operating his own restaurant, Domenico was corporate executive chef and partner at Café Milano, for more than 15 years. His culinary umbrella also covered Café Milano’s two sister restaurants, Sette Bello in Clarendon, VA., and Sette Osteria in Dupont Circle.  For those who love Italian cuisine, Assaggi Osteria features homemade pasta’s, fresh seafood, veal and scrumptious beef. Assaggi Osteria sources whole fresh fish from worldwide sustainable sources, offering the finest bounty the sea has to offer. Produce is purchased from Amish farms and all desserts are homemade.
