I took my Grandma 5 years ago and didn't have a great experience, but thought we'd try it again upon visiting the area recently.
On a Friday night, we originally chose Mexican, but it was overly crowded so we decided to go here. There was parking right out front, which is more convenient for our toddler.
We noticed they have a salad bar, which we didn't try.
I looked up the menu before we arrived so there was no wasted time in ordering. I selected the Granny Bee's Special which is a 6 oz ribeye steak with grilled shrimp. Online the price is $17.95. Be advised they've raised the price to $19.99. My two sides were a baked potato and green beans. My husband ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and we ordered a grilled cheese for our son, which was not on the dinner menu.
You get rolls with your meal. It came out steaming. My husband didn't care for the bread, but I thought it was good (I don't usually eat bread so that might color my perception).
Service was incredibly fast. I've never seen such a thin steak in my life, but steaks come in a variety of thickness and the flavor was acceptable and so was the texture. The shrimp were smaller, but I was impressed by the flavoring. The potato had plentiful butter and sour cream and the beans tasted homemade. All in all, I enjoyed my meal. My husband did too, although the mashed potatoes seemed instant to him. Honestly, I've never been in an affordable country restaurant that had real mashed potatoes, so that wasn't a shock. They have real iced tea, while some country restaurants serve instant (please ask and never accept instant).
I have been told they have a good breakfast. We would probably visit again while in the area. I don't care for Confederate art, which adorns the walls, but there is a very cute child's drawing framed on the wall I'd love to buy if it were for sale.

The food was ok. Nothing great or memorable. Ordered fried flounder and they don’t serve hush puppies with fish you must order that and pay separately. Server served us and never returned to our table. Overall not a good rating.

We visited Granny Bee's whilst passing through Appomattox as we were touring historical sites in Virginia. The restaurant is a small restaurant that offers lovely southern home-cooked dishes. I had the vegetable plate that consisted of coleslaw, stewed tomatoes, and green beans. I found my food to be delicious. My husband had the BLT and said it was average-good. This is a cozy restaurant that makes you feel "at home." The servers are friendly. If in the area this restaurant offers good food at a great price.

Stopped here for lunch after visit to Appamattox Court House. My husband had a hamburger which he said was just okay. I had eggs, sausage and a biscuit. This was the worst meal I have had in a long time. The eggs were overcooked and crunchy. The sausage was beyond well done and had the consistency of leather. The biscuit was burned on the bottom and dried out. Horrible. They advertise breakfast all day, but if they cannot freshly cook your meal, they should not be serving breakfast all day. It was obvious that the sausage and biscuit was cooked very early in the morning and reheated to an almost inedible product. They should be ashamed to serve food of such inferior quality and have the audacity to charge the prices they demand. I would not revisit this restaurant and would encourage others to think twice.

We were excited to eat at the number 2 restaurant in Appottomax with fresh veggies and roast beef! Very disappointed in the food, one very thin slice of roast beef with a hint of au jus, cold mash potatoes with a dot of au jus, cold canned green beans, cold turnip greens! Yuck! The best thing we had was their homemade cornbread which was brought out first and very hot with butter! Delish! We can’t say it was because they were so busy because we were the only clients in the place! Our service was good, just very disappointed in the food!

Wish we could say it was great but lunch fell short on our visit. Vegetables were bland. My fried liver dinner was bleeding on the plate with several raw inside. One exception was the cornbread, it was warm & excellent in flavor.

Great lunch find. Yummy Hot soup and grilled cheese on a day with a 33°F wind chill. Several pie choices let us celebrate Pi Day ala mode.

It's not a fancy place, but maybe the best hamburger steak we have had! Prior to this The Roanoker was my favorite but this was so good -must have been ground round at least! Hot yeast rolls while waiting for the meal. Yum! Generous serving of sides. Friendly service. Just a nice experience for a lunch in Appomattox. Lots of options on the menu and reasonable prices.

The service was exceptional but the food was far off the mark. The beef/veg soup had no obvious beef. The grilled cheese sandwich had only one slice of american cheese. The potato soup tasted off. We were very disappointed.

Food was very blah and server was nice but untrained (been there three weeks). Green beans were from the can and order came out wrong. Would expect fried chicken but only tenders and grilled on the pan chicken. Staff (including the owner) were less than warm and inviting. Would not recommend.

We stopped here for dinner on a Tuesday night. I ordered catfish which was so good and the warm cornbread was the best I’ve ever had in my life! Topped off the meal with warm cherry pie with ice cream! They were also playing old music and singing karaoke which was an added treat. Prices reasonable and great service too!

The food brought me back to my grandmother’s cooking! Stopped by for lunch. The special was pork tenderloin. Loved the warm fresh roll. Everything was up to par. Would definitely stop by again if in the area. Prices were extremely reasonable.

Went there for Sunday lunch. Had the cube steak, lima beans, and green beens. The veggies were very good, the steak ok. Hot rolls were delicous. Service was quick and friendly. Easy to get to from the national park and a cute downtown area.
