Since there is pretty much nothing in Washburn, we had to drive 10 miles to find restaurant open we arrived at 1830 and we were told 20 min wait for table. True to their word we got call exactly 20 min later! I was surprised. The tables were spread apart appropriately for social distancing. They enforced mask rules There was a nice view of the waterfront area The server was pleasant and helpful The food was excellent: We had fish tacos and the apple butter burger They had a good selection of beer The prices seemed quite reasonable for a waterfront restaurant Would recommend this restaurant

The view over the park and out to the lake is gorgeous. The service was courteous and relaxed. We had ample time to enjoy a delicious martini and creative old-fashioned while we awaited our shared entree. The entrees we had of the mussels in a bourbon cream sauce (so decadent and fabulous) and the walleye another night (yummy) were big enough to share, We enjoyed high end service with reasonable prices at The Bayfield Inn Restaurant.

During the crazy pandemic, the restaurant is only open for carryout and so we took the food upstairs to the enjoyable, albeit a bit crowded, rooftop bar area. We liked the food, especially the mussels. A bit of waitstaff service on the rooftop and possibly delivery to the rooftop would improve the experience.

It’s supposed to be a birthday lunch for my friend. My friend ordered steak and his wife ordered chicken Alfredo. The steak is supposed to be medium well but seems like it was served us a medium, Also the toasts for the chicken Alfredo were placed on the plate of the steak.Meanwhile I ordered white fish sandwich and the fish is so bland. A small box of water cost two dollars. More expensive than that serve in the airport. Note that there should be no outside beverage. There was a fly flying from the open door restroom to the tables/our table, while we’re having lunch. Food kind of pricey because you’re paying for the view of the lake, however our table was at the back, so its useless.

You definitely can't beat the view (well, you may get stuck on the street side of the upper deck and that's not so lovely, but breeze is still nice). We just stopped for some appetizers and drinks. It's hard to make a bad plate of nachos, but they managed somehow. Cheap grocery store chips slathered with cheese sauce so that most were already soggy, and the sauce was cold when served, topped with unmelted shredded cheese and a few other toppings. The cheese "cirds" seemed to be 1/2 cubes of a slab of cheddar charred with a blow torch. We're in WI for goodness sake, just use real cUrds. The $8 special lemonade drink was served in a small plastic cup and was also pretty pathetic. Pre-paid at the counter (required) so I pre-tipped 20% but after the server dumped our order no one ever came back to check on us so we just left our uneaten food and finished our drinks. Young man who was hosting was about the only positive customer service experience we had here.

I had a great visit to Northern Wisconsin, and this meal was definitely the most disappointing of my five day visit to the area. This is a high-end restaurant with many great reviews, so I had a certain level of expectations. Due to the exploding number of covid cases, we opted to eat on the upper deck. We were seated at a lightweight, plastic table, but the view was amazing so I continued to have high hopes. Then, we were told you had to walk up to the bar to place your order for dinner and/or drinks. I get that everyone is strapped for help right now, but this all not going with the elegant dining experience portrayed on the website. We ordered filet mignon, shrimp and grits, and two cocktails, which came out to be $100 with tip (even though we ordered at a counter). When the food arrived, it was not up to par for these types of dishes and were even served with plastic utensils! Maybe I had unrealistic expectations for eating fine dining on the patio, but many other restaurants have pulled this off very well during this pandemic. This felt like a beach bar where you really should only be ordering burgers and chicken wings. Please save your money and do not attempt to order any nicer meals on their patio. I have to assume the food quality is better if you dined indoors (I really, really hope so), but the outdoor area is not for meals at this place. Stick to bar food and cocktails and enjoy the view. Otherwise, you will be sorely disappointed.

We ate her multiple times during our stay in Bayfield and honestly, that wasn’t enough. The whitefish tacos are the best tacos I’ve ever had (and I eat a lot of tacos). My boyfriend loved the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and ordered that every time. The drinks were strong and tasty! The views of the bay were also awesome. We were here during COVID times and were pleased with the set up of things. You can order lunch upstairs by circling what you want on the menu and bringing it up to the bar. For dinner, you order at a window downstairs and receive a text to pick it up and take it back upstairs when it’s ready. You could also get it entirely to go and the meals were packaged up nicely.

We were looking for restaurants in Bayfield that offered carry out and the Bayfield Inn was so easy and the food was so awesome that we ordered from them twice. The first time we had the seafood platter to share and everything was amazing and hot!!!! It was packaged very well in mostly recyclable containers. The second meal we had was the whitefish tacos which were also very good. The online ordering was simple. They had a walk up window for easy pickup and the food was ready at exactly the time it was promised. Great job rolling with the times!!!!

The Deck, on the roof of the Bayfield Inn is great for lunch, with excellent food and excellent views of Lake Superior. We felt safe from COVID with the open outdoor seating and the tables were spread apart. All servers wore masks and they were constantly cleaning. The sandwiches are very good and the fries are excellent. We also took carryout for our excursion to Madeline Island due to very limited dining options on Madeline Island.

The Bayfield Inn was one of the only open restaurants this past weekend during our stay in Bayfield. The waits were so long, it was hard finding the opportunity to eat there. We heard the food was amazing so we got there early for lunch one day and had their whitefish and fries. YUM. The fish was perfectly breaded and the fries were nice and crispy. They had good tartar sauce and even better slaw on the side. The views of the water were amazing as well... We recommend eating here, but get there early for a seat.

Once a year, our group of ladies heads to Bayfield to pick blueberries AND to have lunch on the deck at the Bayfield Inn. This year, with Covid, the Inn has met the challenge! Signs with mask requirements is followed by a hostess explaining the lunch ordering. Two of us had the Parmesan crusted whitefish sandwiches and one had the fish tacos. Everyone loved their choices. The stars of the show were the fabulous Bloody Marys and the seasoned French Fries. I usually don’t them but these were gone immediately! Great food and Bloody Marys-Great view- All with Covid Care!

The upstairs deck was a nice outdoor view. The frozen drinks were overpriced and not great. Stick to a basic cocktail. We ordered the chicken nachos which were amazing and the service was quick. The next night we ate at the Lakeside dining room. The scallops were amazing. I wasn’t a fan of the house salad which comes with a maple dressing. Next time I’d order the Caesar which my husband got, and it was delicious. He ordered an Old Fashioned which wasn’t great. I had a glass of wine, which was a generous pour. It was a pricey dinner overall, but we knew that going in. We were not impressed with the automatic 5% surcharge to tip the kitchen staff. Just pay your staff and reflect that in the pricing instead of the fine print. The view was amazing!

I visited the bayfield inn restaurant with my wife on a busy Saturday last weekend. It has a huge area upstairs with a bar and with plenty of places to sit while you wait for your table to dine at. We ordered deliciously made drinks from the upstairs bar. The bartenders were quick and efficient aside from being welcoming and receptive to our orders. They had one hell of a day but they handled the line of customers like pros! I felt bad cause it was not a great day for the food. The poor bartenders had to put in our food order and myself along with others had to let the bartenders know there was a problem with our food. But the bartenders empathized with everyone and immediately let the kitchen know what was wrong with the customer orders. Thank you guys for your hard work! Definitely will be back for drinks! Can’t beat that rooftop view of Lake Superior and the apostle islands!

We normally have chosen not to eat at the Bayfield Inn, thinking that like many hotel restaurants it's just so-so, packaged food. This week, though, we ate there twice and because we ate their a second time you are sure to realize we thought it worth a return trip. We just had light fare for our "supper," but totally enjoyed it. We did not do the rooftop deck, but chose to eat in the dining room. A very pleasant experience.

Post covid many restaurants are still having trouble staffing and service has been subpar at many of those places. After a couple of other bad experiences at other restaurants we found this place. It was fantastic all around. The food was great! Fresh fish all around for us. Everyone from the hostess, to wait staff to cooks were amazing. We arrived towards the end of the lunch shift but no one made us feel rushed or inconvenienced. They welcomed us and continued to provide amazing service our entire meal. Even helping when my young daughter was struggling. Very patient and pleasant. Did I say already...the food was great! Good location downtown overlooking the lake as well. There is indoor and outdoor seating.
