We didn't have a reservation, but were still able to snag the last table available. It wasn't directly next to the windows, but you can still see the view very clearly. Service was good even thought there was a large party of people there at...the time. Food was great, but one of my scallops was slightly undercooked. Other than that everything was excellent!More

Portside is located in a marina, and it is pleasant to look out on this little bay of Lake Superior, crowded with boats. The food is nothing special. The deep fried trout was better than the grilled trout which was a little over-cooked and over-seasoned,....but the staff were friendly and efficiently, and we will certainly return. They had the whitefish liver appetizer which we found is unique cuisine to the area and is amazing. Probably the best part of our meal. I had the whitefish and my wife had the trout - both were very good. This restaurant offers fantastic views...of Lake Superior with friendly helpful service. It’s a nice easy drive only a few miles away from Bayfield.More

If you are looking for a special waterfront restaurant while in the Bayfield area this is your place. Beside the view what I liked best about Portside were the generous portions and wonderful waitstaff. The food was great and I thought the prices were reasonable....My husband and I shared the pork chops which were very good.More

While searching on my phone for a nearby restaurant in Bayfield, I came across a gem! We arrived around 4:20 p.m. and the restaurant/bar was empty, but the staff was busy getting ready to open for dinner at 5:00. Once we found it would be...a while, the gal at the bar invited us to stay and have a drink while we waited. Hey, and why wouldn't we? It was well worth the wait!! With a gorgeous view of the lake and happy with our find (and our drinks), we found ourselves at a great place for dinner. We started with onion rings, which were done to perfection. The clam chowder soup was one of the best I've ever had - delicious! We all had something different for dinner - Lake Superior Whitefish, Chicken Piccata, Chicken Marsala, and Chicken Cordon Blue. All I can say is - there were no leftovers! Stop by - you won't be disappointed - the staff at Portside will see to it!!More

This was one of the few places in Bayfield open to dine-in services at the moment. We were glad that they were open. We had a great meal made up of their wonderful appetizers. Highly recommend the "Wisconsin Poutine"!

My wife and I shared a 'Dockside' burger for lunch. It is 1/2 lb. of hamburger with bacon and other toppings. Very good. The view was enjoyable overlooking the harbor. The restaurant practices distancing and the wearing of masks when first arriving.

I ordered a whitefish sandwich for dockside delivery and it was wonderful! It was cheerfully delivered right on time, hot and fresh. Crisp outside, mild and flaky inside, the fish was perfect. Mounds of lettuce, tomatoes and pickles to top it were buried in a...huge portion of delicious steak-cut battered fries. A fresh hoagie roll with nice tartar sauce held it all together. I'll do this again, soon! They have done a great job of opening up carefully as the pandemic starts to ease.More

Went during the COVID so they were doing outside dining on a Friday night. We had a fun server named Jim who made sure we were well taken care of. Great views of the the marina and the bay. Beautiful to sit outside. We had...the ribeye and the lake trout broiled. The lake trout was great. It had a lot of good flavors and was cooked well. I’m not a big fan of “fishy” tasting fish, but I didn’t mine this at all. The ribeye was a little over done and could have used a bit more seasoning. Overall, enjoyed getting to sit at a restaurant despite the current situation.More

We always make it a point to spend an evening at Portside on our annual fall weekend in Bayfield. The views overlooking the marina and Lake Superior are gorgeous! (Be sure to ask for a window table).The menu is pure Americana, not gourmet.You can't go...wrong with the whitefish dinner; it was fresh caught and delicious! My husband enjoyed the prime rib, the nightly special.The side soup,salad ,and vegetable sides were both quite ordinary. Our server was friendly, attentive, and hard working, She provided menu advice, and responded quickly to our requests. Afterwards, we strolled through the marina, which is well lit at night. My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Portside in mid-October. The restaurant is a couple of miles south of Bayfield, in the marina overlooking Lake Superior. When we arrived, we learned that it was the last night of operation for the season....The vibe was upbeat. The food was excellent — particularly the Lake Superior whitefish and the trout. Our server (Della) was fantastic. She provided great service. Her quick wit and sassy spirit made this a truly memorable dining experience. Overall: Very good food, fair prices, attentive service, beautiful view. Excellent option for a nice dinner in Bayfield.More
