Friendly staff, quick service, excellent croissants. Inexpensive for San Francisco. Easy to find on edge of Chinatown /Financial district.

The terrace over lunch is in the sun just around the corner from Chinatown and Little Italy, right in front of the best book store in town, the City lights. The ambience is relaxed and friendly, the cakes and sandwiches are great and the coffee is excellent; the prices are fair and the wifi is great. It's my favourite hangout... More

Brioche Bakery is a good spot for lunch. It is conveniently located near Jackson Square, Chinatown, and North Beach. The sandwiches are made really well and each comes with a salad. It is very casual and on a nice day there is even seating outside on the street.

This is a charming little corner cafe in San Francisco, next to one of another of my favorite spots 'City of Lights' bookstore. This is one of the few spots where I have been able to enjoy a true 'Café crème' outside of France. Among the pastries I can recommend the pear tarte and the brioche. Browse at the amazing... More

They have inside and outside seating. This is a order at the counter and take a number type of place. The view from the outside is pretty awesome. The food is great.

Great coffee. Fresh squeezed orange juice. And many healthy breakfast and lunch options from which to choose! My friend and I both had the housemade vanilla brioche French Toast. It tasted even better than it looked!! Sheena was very friendly, patient, and helpful. Definitely recommend checking it out!

For our last breakfast an to avoid the sempiternal BKF option given at all the hotels, we walk along Columbus and decide to get there a breakfast. More than acceptable coffee for europeans, very good macaraons, and exquise tarts... Price more than correct.

Excellent choise for breakfast with quality ingredients en made immediately after ordering. The house coffee is soft and a volonté. The fresh danish pastery have a lot of taste and some contain fruit. Is a popular place and we had to wait go be seated.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
