Mainstay kiosk eatery in the re-furbished 1 Market Plaza complex across from the Ferry Terminal. You can enter from the building and, if you walk the entire perimeter of the exterior, you'll find a host of other popular food choices. But this one is quick and healthy. When you come inside you might think there's no business here because of the lingering of the pandemic, but this place remains in operation offering Mediterranean style salads, wraps, pitas, etc. You can even try breakfast here. I ate a lamb gyro at an interior table and noted that there was a steady stream of regulars coming in for the lunch break. The gyro could have used some extra yogurt sauce, so next time I'll ask.

The food here is not spectacular but ok enough for a quick work-day lunch. The service is friendly and quick and the prices are reasonable. The quality of food can be improved though.

By suggestion from a colleague who had visited in past trips, I stopped by Cafe Elena for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Food is delicious and the owners are incredibly kind and lovely. I stopped by every day I was there for a smoothie or food and each time had a lovely interaction with the owners.
Right before leaving for my flight home I stopped in one last time for a smoothie, I almost teared up that it was the last time I'd stop by. If I'm ever back in SF, this would be a staple to stop by again. The kindness and care from the owners made my entire stay so much better.
I strongly recommend stopping by if you are in the area. Nothing better than walking along the water with a delicious smoothie in hand!

Cafe Elena is in the One Market food court and is the only place currently open during the C-19 times.
Mediterranean food and juice bar. I like the Kefta and Chicken Shawarma (shredded roast chicken breast). Falafels are pretty good too, but not cooked to order.
Nothing fancy, but fresh, healthy, and good value.

Top neighborhood gem… owner/ chef makes healthy fresh Salmon, lamb and chicken Mediterranean dinners with organic veggies and farro or rice… served in a cozy, not overly fancy spot with white tablecloths and a good wine list. Affordable! Best bargain in North Beach. Have the tiramisu for dessert!!

Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
