Must see place in San Francisco. We had a nice lunch and we were positovely surprised of the moderate pricing. Nice place!

We continue to be happily impressed with this lovely little gem. The space is really fun, lots of Coppola memorabilia to look at, but it's not a "museum." There is serious food going on here. The wine list is predictable, but since it's Coppola wine, that's a good thing. The prices are really reasonable, both for wines by the glass... More

This is a Coppola effort, and when you order wine, it's easy to tell. Not sure I've been to an Italian restaurant that didn't offer at least one Chianti. Inside is nice and quaint, well appointed, including a large painting of a completely nude woman. But this is San Fracisco. Food is average, nothing spetacular but not bad. Plentiful portions.... We passed by this restaurant after eating at Trestle. We went inside to look since this was Coppala's building and restaurant. The revolving door was amazingly different and I can't really describe it. The inside had a front room and back room with small tables. The manager Lydia was so friendly and spoke to us for awhile. We made a... More

Stopped here after eating at House of Nanking. Owned by Francis Ford Coppola, quaint but elegant decor with nice cocktails and FFC/Inglenook wines. We did not try the food but drinks were great.

We stopped in here by accident, we were looking for another restaurant and ended up here. We were greeted right away and was told it would be about 10-15 minutes. We were told to have a seat in the small bar area and we were waited on right away for a drink. We were told we could order our food... More

Had a nice lunch in this Coppola owned restaurant. Had grilled chicken sandwich and muffalatta. Both excellent as was the wine. Not crowded mid afternoon. Cozy atmosphere.

I have spent many hours at this restaurant - so it was great to revisit it on a recent trip. I always go for the Picado Tray of goodies - good to share as an apertiser with friends/family. A must is Coppola's own Claret - a full bodied delicious red wine. Went here at night after a lecture with 5-6... More

This restaurant is very close to the Hilton Financial District, where we've stayed several times . We ate dinner there and it was the best meal I've had in the area. I had a Chicken Cacciatore special, and it was very flavorful. The rest of the family had pasta and reported themselves very satisfied. The hostess and waiter were both... More

I was here for a conference. I walked passed this beautiful place and thought I would stop in for a bit. The menu was simple and classic. The cocktail menu was also simple but the drinks are delicious - really nice classic cocktails. The pizza was more than enough for one. Definitely would recommend to other and come back myself.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
