very cozy restaurant with really good food and excellent wine made by Copolla's family. We want on a Sunday evening, the place was not too busy. Service was also really good.

We had dinner here. Good Italian food in Francis Ford Coppola's restaurant. The walls are covered in memorabilia and photographs. The food was delicious, some specials and a variety of pastas and pizzas. Fresh good tasty food.

After walking and walking in SF and Marin we wanted a cozy warm dinner with good wine. This was perfect. Food and wine were really good. Vibe was low key. A place where you can finish your glass of wine and talk.

Had lunch before the Chinese New Year Parade. Sat at a sidewalk table on the first sunny day SF has had in quite awhile, so pleasant! We had the spinach frittata and the sausage frittata, both excellent. The server recommended the Tiramisu for dessert, it was also excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Came for drinks no food, been here many times before and great staff. This time barman refused to make us Bloody Mary's because it was after 3pm. Only 2 people in the bar and he told us we couldn't have them because you don't drink Bloody Mary's after 3pm. Saving grace was waiter who put him in his place and... More

I've never had a drink made with such barely concealed resentment. The young bartender was surly beyond belief and clearly thinks he's too good to work there. Nope. Not good enough.

This restaurant is nicely located heading up the hill towards Coit Tower. It’s famous owner is Francis Ford Coppola, featuring his wines and movie memorabilia. A co-worker had worries that it would be touristy - I would not call it touristy at all, it has a lot of charm on its own as a restaurant and bar. The service was... More

My husband and I have been in California for two weeks and I was super excited to visit this restaurant because I am huge movie buff. When we arrived we were the only customers in the restaurant. One employees was eating his lunch at the bar which I find weird. The bartender Joshua served us wine then spent his entire... More

This Italian restaurant offers high taste food which is presented simply but deliciously. This cafe is located on the border of Chinatown.

Excellent waiter-very attentive to my wife who wanted to have a spaghetti pomodoro with capers and olives but little garlic (a special preparation request) We split a caesar salad which was above average (but not exceptional) and the spaghetti pomodoro which was good but the sauce was slightly sweet. A Viognier white wine was suggested by the waiter for my... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
