Very nice location, great views - be sure to look as you wait for a table - the view from the top lobby is great! Great service and wine reasonable price. Staff very friendly

A view worth waiting for. Be prepared to wait for a table as it is busy, but wait is not to long as turn over is quick, and they have a good system in place to keep track when it is your turn. Drinks are expensive but very good and the view is wonderful. Sunset is a great time to... More

We were lucky to go to the Top of the Mark for cocktails and appetizers and got in before a line. Arrived just before 5:00 pm. The view is spectacular, but drinks are very pricey and the chips we ordered and light hors d'oeuvres weren't all that special.

This was quite literally the best brunch I have ever had. On a weekend in San Francisco I decided to treat ourselves and have Sunday Brunch at Top of the Mark. At $89 a person, I was expecting a palatial spread and that is exactly what we got. We were seated in the corner by the window (really no bad... More

We arrived at around 6:30 on a Thursday night and was told we would have a small wait for a table for drinks at the bar and there would be a $10 cover charge per head as there was a band on. We had no issue with that in itself and whilst it was a bit chaotic in the lobby... More

Visited for a few drinks and a light snack with work colleagues around 9pm. We were shown to a table by a nice manager. Waitress took around 15 mins before she gave us the menu. We then waited another 15 mins before someone took our order. 10 mins later we received some tap water and then finally another 5 mins... More

It changes from elegant to low level loud terrible music, poor service, terrible atmosphere, dated décor, etc. I was there years ago when it was elegant and glamorous. Now $10 pp cover, loud terrible band, you could not even hear the server or the person you were sitting next to. This turned into a cheesey bad bar. I can't believe... More

My wife and I always go to the Top of the Mark for drinks and dancing when we are in San Francisco. It's relatively small: only 40 or so tables and it has very large glass windows on three sides for spectacular views of the City and San Francisco Bay. Its a very elegant atmosphere with dancing to a different... More

It's pretty sad when you stay in a nice hotel like the Mark Hopkins and you can't even get into the bar on the roof because of the "wait", even on a Thursday night. Then to be asked to pay a $10 cover charge when you "read" that hotel guests would have the charge waved was insulting. At $15 a... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
