A local eatery located in the Outer Richmond area of SF. Close to Lands End, Seal Rock and the Cliff House. A great place to enjoy authentic Shanghai dishes in a local eatery. The outside looks worn out, but the inside is remodeled and is very clean looking. The seating area is quite small, maybe about 5 tables max, 3... More

The dumplings and pot stickers are truly amazing. We always wish we ordered more- no matter how many we actually order. The chicken wings are also very special. Cash only, so come prepared.

Don't go if you're hungry and want to eat right away. Saw this restaurant review on KQED Check Please. Service is extremely slow. All the reviews are NOT kidding about slow service. We waited almost 1-1/2 hours for our table for 5. If you have only two in your party, maybe the wait is about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.... More

Ordered the dry fried chicken wings, it IS much more flavorful than San Tung. It's better. XLB, I've had better, the skin was thick yet fragile. Be careful when picking up. Vegetarian Goose. Delicious! Similar to a dim sum, rolled tofu skin dish, except this is crispy and vegetarian. Pig Knuckle, we opted for the salt & pepper variant. Really... More

Yes, it's a little off the beaten track unless you're a Richmond District resident, but if you love Shanghai cuisine like I love Shanghai cuisine, this is THE PLACE. Eventually I'll try everything on their very authentic menu, but here's my suggestion for a tried and true, "can't miss" dinner for four: start with an order of caged dumplings, aka... More

We have been visiting every week for years, because they have consistent food (the husband is the chef). Try these authentic Shanghainese dishes: pork knuckle, salt & pepper (fried, but surprisingly it feels less fatty than the braised version which requires 24-hour notice - in my opinion it's better than the best haxen in Munich); stewed pork meatballs ("lion head"... Tiny storefront in a residential area with amazing food! We stopped here before heading to the Legion of Honor, and were pleasantly surprised by something called Dry Fried Chicken Wings. We saw three other tables getting something that looked strangely unlike anything we had seen before, so we asked what it was and decided to try it. We were so... More

Def check out shanghai dumpling king for a simple, delicious, hole-in-the-wall experience. I always get their shao long Bao (soup dumplings) because the soup inside is very delicious! A lot if places make the soup so oily and you can't taste the soup. Also, I love their lionhead casserole. It's a meatball soup that taste like my grandmother's home cooking!... More

This husband-&-wife hole in the wall is nearly to the end of San Francisco, but it is worth the trip. Best dumplings this side of "the pond" plus superb treatment of vegetable dishes. They have two menus (which can get a little confusing) so suggest you stick to the Shanghainese menu.
