We booked well in advance which I'm glad we did as at 8pm people were being turned away until 10pm for a table. We went for the sharing 'family style' menu which was a set price at $65 each and included most of the veg...More

Don't be fooled by the name. Al's place is upscale and excellent. I had one of the very best meals I have eaten in San Francisco on my last visit. I shared a number of different plates with my son, and the meat dishes were...More

We loved the food at Al's! They were very helpful with my husband's food allergy. The only complaint was that the service was very rushed. I get that we were there on a Friday night but it was clear they wanted to turn the tables...More

I am a vegetarian. Most of the time at fine restaurants, there is one begrudging vegetarian option for me. Or I have to ask the server if an entree can be cooked without meat. At Al's Place, vegetables are the main event, to which meat...More

Everything in this place is amazing. The combinations are unexpected but worth the experience. I recommend the Fish Mullet; you can't have enough of the sauce it comes with. Pickled fries were another delicious twist

I recomend to chose the "Family Style" which is a degustation menu. It gave us a comprehensive perspective on Al's cuisine. From appetizers to dessert it was a florilege of savours, mainly based on vegies, but not only. One remark : we can regret a...More

Really terrific food at this modern American restaurant, with various influences. Their specialties are seafood and vegetable dishes. Loved the mushroom broth chawamushi, brassicas, sunchoke curry, and fish mullet. Hanger steak and pork belly were also very good. Portions are larger than one might suspect...More
