Walking past looking for a restaurant and Maitre De persuaded us to eat here. What a good decision! Great food, great atmosphere and the staff were outstanding. What a buzz. Would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We went to city lights bookstore and decided we were hungry for dinner. I had seen reviews of this restaurant and thought would be worth trying. We didn't have a reservation but got in anyway around 6 on a Sunday evening. The host and the wait staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food was very good. Wine list was... More

What an amazing restaurant this is. The staff are brilliant, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere in the restaurant is bubbling. They do a gluten free version of every pasta (no gluten free bread unfortunately) so there is plenty of choice for gluten free which is not the case in many Italian restaurants. Went for dinner, the table was... More

This restaurant totally reminded me of Trastevere in Rome! They welcome you from the front door and all the waiters are running around making sure you a totally happy and entertain you with a wicked Italian accent!! Food was awesome and the Tiramisu was the best I ever tasted. Came from Calgary, Alberta, Canada for a teacher's conference and we... More

Great food here and the staff is wonderful. Friendly, singing all the time, helpful without being food snobs. This time I had the Tiramisu and it was fantastic. Can't say enough good about this restaurant.

What do you say about a restaurant that is literally the perfect realization of what it should b? A vibrant and attractive room, (appropriately) pie shaped, where almost every table is on a window, with an ironic view of neighboring strip joints and (I'm not making this up) the Jack Kerouac museum. Notwithstanding the funky neighborhood, the room is lovely... More

If you're looking for fine Italian dining with a friendly waitstaff this is a great choice. A very large menu. Many truffle options for those how are so inclined. Solid wine selection. If the menu options seem daunting the waitstaff can guide you. They listen and help you make the best selections for you. Some of the best Italian food... More

What a great restaurant. Of the handful of places I've eaten at in SF, this is the one restaurant that I would be absolutely sure to return to when I return. It is so common for an American restaurant to have an arrogant "we're doing you a favor" vibe, whether subtle or direct. E TUTTO QUA is completely opposite. From... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
