We started with an ethereal (yes, ethereal) heirloom tomato salad with macerated peaches dressed with a touch of olive oil and peppercorns. Wow! Following our out of body experience with the heirloom tomatoes we sampled a couple of pastas. The tagliatelle with braised short ribs was superb. I had the scallops which were beautiful and cooked perfectly although the ratatouille... More

When you walk in the vibe feels more casual but we were seated upstairs which is more formal and perfect for what we had in mind. Had the signature cocktail, the Perbacco, which was delicious. I'm Italian and pretty picky about my pasta. I have to say of the 5 pasta dishes we ordered, all were wonderful and perfectly made/cooked.... More

We booked Perbacco and decided to stop off at a few bars from Fishermans Wharf all the way to the restaurant, the restaurant itself was well decorated with a bar near the entrance. Our waitress was very polite and the menu itself had lots of choice. My wife and I both had a starter and a main both were tasty.... More

My husband and I had dinner here on our last evening in San Francisco and really enjoyed our meal. I have to agree a little on the waitstaff that they seemed to pick tables to cater to. It wouldn't stop me from eating here but it was noticeable. Some tables were given water, bread, etc. without asking and some had... More

Was looking forward to a wonderful evening with my mom and kids. Mom told waiter we were celebrating my 50th Birthday and her 75th. We made a special trip to this restaurant. Our waiter barely gave us the time of day. He spent more time visiting with the people at the next table and "sampling a beverage". The food was... More

The service was great and the food was amazing! We started with the Burrata appetizer, had a pasta course, the Angolotti with braised beef short rib, truffle and red wine sauce, then the pork chop entree, and they were all absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I would go back in a heartbeat!

To be honest, Perbacco was our backup backup option since we were looking for last minute dinner reservations with a few friends. But we have no regrets coming here. The pesce crudo was delicious. We also tried the scallops, duck, and one of the pasta dishes. Everything was well-cooked and nicely plated. The duck fat potatoes were recommended by our... More

I don't give 5 stars but the foodie experience was very close. Superb service...excellent food with a wide variety of choices. Nice plate size and a good vibe in the place. I will be back.

We had a group of five for dinner at a large round table. Our dinner was quite good as was the house wine. Service was good as well. One thing that detracted from the experience was that it was quite noisy and we couldn't hear one another across the table.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
