I discovered Colibri some years ago when I needed a quick meal before going to the theater across the street. They seated me at the bar and kept my deadline in mind while serving small plates. I have since taken guests there for lunch and dinner, and more recently have taken advantage of their week-day happy hour. The bar bites... More

Good experience as we were totally jet lagged and needed a quick dinner fix. Good and friendly service with good food and good offer of margarita cocktails.

We went for dinner in a large group and we were largely disappointed. The service was generally disinterested in providing a good service, the food was average at best and we felt like the place was badly run. I really would like to rate this place higher but I did not feel comfortable in the restaurant, the food was bland,... More

My husband and I went to Colibri in August and loved everything. We went back 2 weeks ago with our daughter and, like many reviews said, had terrible service. And hair in 2 dishes. The chilies ever showed up for the guacamole even though we asked 2 times. Waitress was clearly struggling. Duck Mole was just okay. But Carnitas were... More

This is definitely the place for you if you are into tequila! I do not know the exact amount, but by looking at the menu, there must be over 100 selections of tequila. A must have the the guacamole. It is made to order and is fantastic! The mole is really good, with sweet notes vice the more spicy version... More

I am so happy that I had a bad experience at Fino's because going to Colibri was a truly remarkable one! This is truly Mexican food and it's very finest. They were friendly, welcoming, and the food was so so delicious. And if you get a chance ask for the maître d', Jorge, he was so friendly and delightful and... More

Less than 2 minutes away from Union Square the restaurant has quite an understated exterior but inside the warm orange glow and friendly atmosphere make this a lovely place to eat. The food is very authentic so don't go expecting your standard Mexican fast food, everything is prepared fresh and the food is very traditional. The only thing that lets... More

Found this spot on a recommendation from our hotel. The atmosphere and location are awesome. The service itself is also very good, but the food was just ok. It is also quite cramped inside the restaurant.

Traveled to SF for a wedding on what just happened to be our anniversary. Colibri was nearby and well regarded on TA; we were not disappointed. My Carnitas pork dish was tender and full of flavor. Michele"s emjoyed her Pechuga Rellena de Huitlacoche chicken. The guacamole was fresh and creamy. And our several rounds of the House Margaritas, one of... More

Colibri Mexican Bistro lies in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Theatre District, just a block west of Union Square. Spanish for "hummingbird," Colibri combines the simplicity of authentic family recipes with fresh, high-quality ingredients to bring diners unparalleled, delectable Mexican cuisine in a charming, turn of the century cantina setting. This warm and inviting eatery is reminiscent of Mexico City restaurants of the 1900's, decorated with classic Spanish paintings and accentuated by a vast collection of uniquely shaped and rare tequila bottles. Filled with energy, Colibri projects black and white 1940's Latino-film clips at the front of the house, while the open kitchen in back provides glimpses of its colorful cuisine in different stages of completions. Boosting a knowledgeable staff and attentive, sociable management, Colibri is dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience for both tourist and locals alike.
