We had the pork carnitas entree and seafood tacos. The carnitas had great authentic flavor. The dipping sauces and homemade fresh tortillas was an added bonus rather than say bread and butter like most restaurants serve. Service was impeccable. The menu had many dishes that we would like to try upon our return. We were more than pleased with Colibri.... More

With a group of 11, I was impressed how accommodating they were to our group size. We made a reservation which was helpful. The food was delicious and not your typical Mexican menu items. The Poblano Pepper meal was amazing. Our server was wonderful. Be prepared for higher prices but so worth the experience.

We lived in Mexico City for a few year and this is really good food. It's not cheap but the quality of the food yields great value. Service is competent and friendly. Good selection of draft beer and tequila etc. great salsas and fresh corn tortillas (not the hard crunchy type). Go here.

Lovely bistro with great food. My Australian friends enjoyed their chicken and fish entrees. The house made guacamole is amazing and delicious. Cuisine is fresh and light; it is beautifully presented. Service is warm and attentive. Bistro is somewhat small, but colorfully decorated with Mexican arts and crafts.

Family of 4 dined here and it was very good. Everyone's meal was excellent, mine, particularly excellent--carnitas. We also had good drinks. I was not blown away by the service or the guauc and chips. They charged for chips and the guauc was expensive and pretty small. That could have been done much better and service a bit too --... As Mexican restaurants go this was very good. We enjoyed the freshly made guacamole and all the food we ate. In fact we enjoyed it so much that we returned again at the end of our stay. There is a lot to choose from, so on our return visit I opted to have 2 starters instead of a main course... More

Decide to try this based on their creative menu and vast tequila selection. Tried the special margarita to start. My husband and I tried the Panuchos de Cochinita Pibil which were outstanding. Entrees were also tasty (carnival) and served on pretty pottery dishes. Great location too. Will return when I visit San Francisco again!

Between the warm greeting and nice visual atmosphere, I hoped for great things. I was not disappointed. Service was pleasant and flowed as you'd expect. I never waited long periods without service and it was during their dinner rush. I started off with the Pink Bull Rush (delicious) and empanadas. Tasty and displayed beautifully with garnish and sauces. The star... More

Colibri Mexican Bistro lies in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Theatre District, just a block west of Union Square. Spanish for "hummingbird," Colibri combines the simplicity of authentic family recipes with fresh, high-quality ingredients to bring diners unparalleled, delectable Mexican cuisine in a charming, turn of the century cantina setting. This warm and inviting eatery is reminiscent of Mexico City restaurants of the 1900's, decorated with classic Spanish paintings and accentuated by a vast collection of uniquely shaped and rare tequila bottles. Filled with energy, Colibri projects black and white 1940's Latino-film clips at the front of the house, while the open kitchen in back provides glimpses of its colorful cuisine in different stages of completions. Boosting a knowledgeable staff and attentive, sociable management, Colibri is dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience for both tourist and locals alike.
