Entering a busy restaurant without a reservation, we were made very welcome. Appetisers came quickly, and we enjoyed a meal of delicious Mexican food, served quite differently to the usual fare. Not a bad dish amongst our choices, we really enjoyed our visit.

I am not generally a fan of Mexican food, but wanted to give it another try. As others have noted, the guacamole was excellent as was the tamarind mole prawn. But the rate at which the food appeared was overwhelming. We had just started on the complimentary tortillas and dips (good) when the guacamole was brought to the table, and... More

So good, highly recommended. Great fresh tortillas and salsa, awesome apps, and great entrees to choose from. Everything I had was excellent, including several cocktails and a few tequila flights my group shared. We had a reservation for 4 but ended up with 6 and they were able to get us in no problem. Great service too. Sure it's a... More

The food was good, and fresh. The staff were friendly, even towards kids. They had plenty of gluten free options. You will especially like their fresh, home made corn tortillas. A bonus was that we walked in and had no wait for a party of 4 at dinner time.

Although the place was booked on a Friday night, we stopped in for happy hour and were served dinner at a small bar table with no wait!! The menu includes some delicious offerings like mole chicken and a green posole stew. Staff was great and so were margaritas.

Excellent Mexican bistro in union square. The food is awesome! I tried the filet with goat cheese and mashed potatoes. The portion was a little on the small side but delicious and topped with a roasted poblano pepper. The corn on the cob is perfectly seasoned. But before you get to the main course, you must try the guacamole spiced... More

Went here based on other trip advisor reviews and was pleased with the food. It was very good! We encountered a few problems though. When we first got to the restaurant they told us a table was being cleaned for us and it shouldn't be long until we were seated. They then told us that the kitchen was backed up... More

My boyfriend and I stopped here during our vacation and we loved it! Being from New England, we don't have a lot of good Mexican restaurants near us. The margaritas were delicious and so were the chips and salsa to start! He got a mole dish and I got a chicken app and a corn on the Cobb. Everything was... More

We picked this place because we were looking for an upscale Mexican restaurant. Colibri has a wonderful vibe. Everything we ordered was fantastic, including the cocktails, and best of all, there were many great options for the vegetarians in our group. The service was very fast, which worked well for us, because we were going to a different place for... More

We went here because of the reviews and we wanted some Mexican food. The place is a little cramped, especially near the front. We came for lunch and the food was great. Prices weren't too too bad either.

Colibri Mexican Bistro lies in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Theatre District, just a block west of Union Square. Spanish for "hummingbird," Colibri combines the simplicity of authentic family recipes with fresh, high-quality ingredients to bring diners unparalleled, delectable Mexican cuisine in a charming, turn of the century cantina setting. This warm and inviting eatery is reminiscent of Mexico City restaurants of the 1900's, decorated with classic Spanish paintings and accentuated by a vast collection of uniquely shaped and rare tequila bottles. Filled with energy, Colibri projects black and white 1940's Latino-film clips at the front of the house, while the open kitchen in back provides glimpses of its colorful cuisine in different stages of completions. Boosting a knowledgeable staff and attentive, sociable management, Colibri is dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience for both tourist and locals alike.
