I enjoy sushi and this place is above average, and was not super crowded. However, don't go here if you expect to grab after dinner drinks nearby as their is not much nightlife in the area.

HUH??? No tipping but there is a "Dine In charge"??? Really? Am I missing something? Isn't that a tip? 18% dine in charge sounds like a tip to me. Just beware ...I almost tipped on top of that. Service was very slow and not attentive. Had to look for our server a few times. We arrived as the table next... More

Tucked into a now-happening block of Guerrero, Kiji Sushi serves some tasty raw fish. Diners should strive to be seated in the bright and cheery front dining area, as the rear room is dark and foreboding. Sitting in the front also has the benefit of receiving slightly better service. The ocean trout, walu, bintoro, chu toro, and sake were fresh... More

I don’t eat a lot of raw fish for various reasons, but when I do and I’m in San Francisco, Kiji is the only place for me. It’s a small, elegant restaurant tucked away in the Mission on Guerrero. Did I mention it was small? And it gets crowded but luckily they do take reservations. The menu is diverse and... More

Nicely located in the trendy Mission district. Fish was fresh, of good quality, and came in a large variety. Both nigiris and makis were quite yummy though a little too fancy (i.e., American-style) compared to my sushi experience in Japan. Seemed to be slightly more expensive than other places around. However, I would visit again if in the area.

This is a great, great place for sushi. Depending on the catch and the freshness, you have to enjoy local half-moon bay Albacore. The first time I was there - out of this world! Second time, the chefs cut it a little bit different. But still great. They are also very picky for their sea urchin (uni) and has yet... More

If you are in the Mission, this place has very good sushi (but not the best in SF). Three of us loved the Kiji Ceviche, the Ahi Carpaccio and the Toro Tartar - all subtle and delicious. We liked the dayboat scallops (perfectly cooked) but thought they would have been better if the bacon was left out so the truffle... More

Having lived for 5+ years in Japan my expectations for a sushi bar are very high. I have walked past this place often and recently decided to have dinner with a friend. The sushi is fresh and beautifully presented, but really sets it apart is that some of their fish 9and Uni ) comes directly from Japan. This is indicated... More

Kiji is a pretty decent sushi restaurant for San Francisco. The fish is fresh, and the service is pretty solid. However, it just doesn't compare to other sf stalwarts in the same price range (eg Ebisu). The fish is good but not great. The flavor is fresh but won't blow you away. For instance, the day boat scallops with truffle... More

We've been here on a recommendation of a friend. We sampled the sushi and the dinner set. Sushi was nice but that's it. Nothing to special, especially not for you what you need to pay - easy between 8-10$ for 2 small pieces.
