I was staying on Powell and looking for a cool small restaurant with eclectic menu. Oola fit the bill. Small contemporary space that doesn't get to loud which always gets a thumbs up for me in that category. I was dining solo so I sat at the bar. Wonderful friendly bartender who made a killer Martini to my specs. Menu... More

Came in for a couple of drinks and wound up eating dinner also. Pappardelle was great very tasty and fresh. The fish tacos are spicy and just enough. The mac and cheese also had a great fresh quality. Loved the bee hive drink as well!

Was traveling alone for work and went there for dinner & a pint. Friendly bar tender, good food, and nice atmosphere with old movies showing above. Cozy and quite popular, so be sure to book a table if you don't want to sit at the bar. Near the Moscone center.

I went here with a group of colleagues while traveling for work. We had a reservation for a party of 7 but they crammed us into a small booth with a chair on the end. We ordered two orders of Brussel sprouts which were quite tasty, but only one came. We were told the 2nd was coming but it never... More

The best place for French press. We went there for dinner and had burgers and fries with Macaroni and cheese as a starter. Good food but the best part was the coffee after the meal! Go there for French press!

Friendly service. Good bar and wine menu. Food was all good - mainly American favourites. Seated a party of ten and managed to serve us all at same time. Really impressed.

Walked the short distance with our kids from Inter Continental on Howard. Had booked on open table and were immediately seated in the full restaurant at a great booth towards the back. Loved the atmosphere and though not a family joint, it was very kid friendly for our ages (10 and 12). We were treated really well by all staff.... More

Went with a group of people and were shuffled upstairs to a corner section. The service was very slow, our only server for 20 people was completely overwhelmed. Asked several times to turn down the music as we couldnt hear ourselves over the noise, even moved a speaker away to assist. But was confronted by a very annoyed and obnoixious... More

What a total gem if you are looking for great high quality American food!! Though service was ropy and unattentive at times. If you are looking for a quite corner spot with great decor and food this is your place. Though do not go if you want high quality service and a great atmosphere.

This was kind of a quaint place with a quirky charm. Would have given 4 stars, but we were unimpressed with the food choices on the menu. We arrived at 12:30 PM and wanted lunch. All that was offered was mostly eggy brunch items. We got a burger and a beet salad because those were the only two items that... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
