Stopped in here with a friend to have dinner before a nearby event. Yes I know this is in Chinatown, but we weren't in the mood for Chinese food. We got a table and had dinner. Neither of us got drinks so I can't comment on the bar. I got a burger and fries and it was good. But we... More

My husband and I called on For drinks and some food on a Thursday night. I'm a flight attendant and have layovers in San Francisco a couple of times a month staying at a hotel very close to Kells which makes it a good place for us on the evening we land when we just want a drink and to... More

A great Irish pub in San Francisco, I always like to swing by and grab a pint of Guinness whenever i'm in the area.

The owner, Paul, went so over the top for drinks, food and making sure we all had a great time, that he has earned the title of bar GOD! He was remarkable in his interaction with his patrons. We went here 3 days around the SB it was so great!

It's a good ol' Irish bar. Loud, but good food, good drinks, and good company. The Shepard's pie was a little unique, but in a delightful way. Their menu is actually pretty varied, offering more than just traditional Irish fare. Don't expect much conversation if you're going there, however.

This was a fun pub to visit after a full day of being tourists. It is clearly a favoured local spot and was very busy and noisy, but full of life. We enjoyed a cold beer and then ordered from their irish menu. The chicken pot pie was definitely a hit with the two of us who ordered it, but... More

Tasty chili and good service. We had been looking for somewhere away from the tourist traps of Fisherman's wharf to settle on a wet afternoon.

Great place for lunch or dinner, downtown, after a day of shopping. Wide variety of choices, and numerous beer selections. Was extremely busy during my visit, and we waited about 45 minutes for a table. Food was delicious, great service by server.

This is definitely a place the locals frequent. There's not a lot of table seating, but there is plenty of bar space, which was crowded during our happy hour visit. Server was friendly and helpful and food was pretty good -- standard pub fare -- the sausage roll appetizer was outstanding and definitely worth a try, esp if you're tired... More

Proper (American style) Irish bars (as you'd find in Eastern US) seem had to find in SF. We stumbled across Kells, on the border of China Town, FD and North Beach. The place was faultless, great service, good bar food.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
