We came here because this is supposed to be the best place for General Chicken. I had Beef & Broccoli and I loved it. My boyfriend had the General's and he couldn't get enough of it.

I have frequented this place since my days working in the FiDi and keep going back. There prices are great, like really great, and the couple that owns the joint are wonderful. Everything they cook is fresh, made to order, and wonderful!! The husband is the cook, the wife does the orders and grandma comes in to help with dishes.... More

I had the spring rolls with vegetables and also the shrimp/vegetable noodle soup. Both great choices. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. Very clean but simple.

Based on reviews, I decided to make the 1 mile walk to Yan's Kitchen, hoping to get some Chinese food that was tasty and hopefully, a notch above the take out slop that too many Chinese restaurants settle for. The best I can say is that when I arrived back at my hotel, the food was still hot. It was... More

After reading all the reviews, we were looking forward to lunch at Yan's Kitchen. The restaurant is small and right on Columbus. When we walked in, there was one couple eating and all but two of the remaining tables were dirty. We ordered from the lunch menu and the food was prepared fresh for us, but the fried items were... Small, family run Chinese restaurant on the edge of Chinatown that is cash only. General Tso’s chicken was toasty and tasty. Sometimes it can be just a derivative of orange chicken or sweet and sour and this was definitely not the case. Mongolian shrimp, chicken and beef with ginger and onion was fresh tasting served over a bed of brown... More

Amazing food individually prepared while you wait and well worth it. A small, 9 tables, family restaurant, but some of the best Chinese food my wife and I have ever had. Unfortunately we could not talk them into relocating to Arizona so can only highly suggest for those who visit or live there do not miss out on this opportunity.

Love this place. Kind of a dive but food is good and the price is right. I go here for lunch fairly frequently. I like the seafood with vegetables. Seems like a couple own/run this place. They are quiet but friendly and always remember my order which is unusual in such a big city

A little place on the edge of the Financial District, North Beach and Chinatown. We ordered the potstickers, vegetable chow mein and General Tso's Chicken. Everything was fantastic, fresh and so deliscious. Looked like a husband and wife team, she was so sweet and nice. Not fancy looking, but bright and clean. I thought it was cute. But more importantly,... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
