We celebrated a graduation 🎓 with 3 couples at Michael Mina San Francisco. This place is awesome!! We had a round table and it was perfect! The wait staff is friendly and engaging. (We tend to be a bit boisterous!) The cocktails were so delicious and beautifully prepared. I had way too many! We opted for a pre fixe menu... More

The service at Michael Mina was outstanding at every level. The bar is lovely and relaxing and grown up. I would go back for cocktails in a second. But the restaurant is way overpriced, even for above average food (small portions -- which is nice, actually, served on way oversized plates, which is a pretension I can do without). I... More

This place is really expensive and frankly overrated. The smallest digestation is 3 courses. Everything is done 3 ways, with numerous sauces, foams and garnishes. It's too much. We heard this place was great but the chef is drowning the food in fuss. The bill was over $600 with their cheapest red. We are from Australia so to pay over... More

What do I mean ? We couldn't fault the quality of the food, the presentation, the service and the attention to detail - all were highly commendable. But (as I name drop from a great height !) for the money it wasn't an 'Andrew Fairlie experience' (check Gleneagles hotel for reference). We were slightly disappointed with the table allocated and... Arrived in San Francisco today and decided to celebrate my birthday and anniversary (two days later) at Michael Mina. When we travel we always seek out the 5-star dining establishments and Michael Mina's did not fail to deliver a memorable experience. The food was beyond incredible, superior staff and wonderful environment. This was the first time I had BlueFin Tuna... More

Traveling to San Francisco we wanted to try a Michelin star restaurant and even if this wasn´t our first choice it didn´t dissapoint. We used the cable car to our hotel as it´s justa in front of the restaurant and it´s a great way to make the evening different.

Our far flung family convened in SFO with the intention of having an outstanding meal, we were not disappointed. Everybody had the prix fixe meals, too much to try and describe it all. Suffice it to say that a group of avowed foodies was not disappointed. Service was excellent, the knowledgeable Som expertly fielded questions and did not disappoint with... More

First rate fine dining, appropriate for those who wish to impress. First time was great, but wore thin by the third time. Expensive.

Three takeaways Dining options: 3 course meal, 7 course meal or a la carte at the bar. So no a la carte in the dining room. I had the three course meal $125 without the drinks. There are several options for each meal. So six options for the appetizer, six for the main and three for the desert. See attached.... More

Great food. There is a tasting menu (7 courses) and a prix fixe menu (3 courses). The prix fixe offers about 6 selection per course. We went with seasonal trio selections (of which there were several to choose from per course); each provide three preparations using the same main ingredient. It was a great way to taste lots of dishes... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
