We had the three course tasting menu and it was delicious. The setting is very elegant and the service is outstanding. I had the sashimi, lamb and cheese plate and my bf had the soft-shell crab, lobster pot pie and dessert trio. Everything was cooked and presented beautifully.

Michael Mina has restaurants in almost every major global city. His eponymous location in the SF Financial district is particularly distinctive. A limited, creative menu that encourages diners to select three items. Front of house staff takes interest in adding to the memorability of their service. Full bar and wine list. Valet parking most evenings. Near the Embarcadero Center. Within... More

First time to dine at Michael Mina SF . We had the Three Course Pre- Fixe menu. Items we ordered were: Sashimi , Shabu shabu and Foie Gras, Hay Smoked Schmitz Ranch ribeye, Maine Lobster Pot Pie, Artisanal Cheese and Valhrona chocolate . All were good but my favorite was the Lobster pot pie . This location used to be... More

We've been fans of Chef Mina's, since he got his start, when this was Aqua, and have followed his career through several restaurants, and not just in the Bay Area. We have also had the great pleasure to attend a culinary and wine event with him, at Blackberry Farm, in Tennessee. This was probably the eighth time we have dined... More

Had a business dinner with 6 colleagues. We opted for the Chef Tasting Menu with wine pairing priced at approximately $400 per person. As you would expect for these prices, the food and wine were consistently outstanding across all 7 courses. Our particular favorites were the caviar parfait, artisan foie gras, and the 28 day dry-aged Cote de Bouef. The... More

On the first evening of our trip to San Francisco we had dinner at Michelin Star Michael Mina resturant. We visited Michael Mina’s restaurants before at different locations, our first visit to this restaurant. It was two of us. We had reservation. Selection was between tree course PRIX FIXE menu ($125 pp) and CHEF TASTING menu ($170 pp). PRIX FIXE... More

This place should be on the first page of TripAdvisor. The food and service is consistently impeccable. This time, The (French ) Sommelier recommended the most amazing paring wine with my chosen menu. a must if in San Fransisco.

Our business lunch here was highly impressive for its taste including the superb pork belly with tender and juicy pork belly texture. Tuna tartar also is wonderful with a good blend of sesame and nuts. The decoration is a bit dark and noisy for lunch

We came here to celebrate my daughter's graduation. Eight people (five adults, two teens and a child). My husband and I had been here before and had a positive experience. Overall, this time we were very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere. However, I will start with a complaint that caused me to remove a star from an otherwise... More

I had been to Michael Mina's restaurant at the Westin Saint Francis a while back and had a great experience. So, when suggesting a place to eat to my colleagues from abroad and from the East Coast I suggested this place; we were not disappointed. We chose the three course meal option with the wine pairing and had a wonderful... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
