Arrived in San Francisco today and decided to celebrate my birthday and anniversary (two days later) at Michael Mina. When we travel we always seek out the 5-star dining establishments and Michael Mina's did not fail to deliver a memorable experience. The food was beyond incredible, superior staff and wonderful environment. This was the first time I had BlueFin Tuna... More

Traveling to San Francisco we wanted to try a Michelin star restaurant and even if this wasn´t our first choice it didn´t dissapoint. We used the cable car to our hotel as it´s justa in front of the restaurant and it´s a great way to make the evening different.

Our far flung family convened in SFO with the intention of having an outstanding meal, we were not disappointed. Everybody had the prix fixe meals, too much to try and describe it all. Suffice it to say that a group of avowed foodies was not disappointed. Service was excellent, the knowledgeable Som expertly fielded questions and did not disappoint with... More

First rate fine dining, appropriate for those who wish to impress. First time was great, but wore thin by the third time. Expensive.

Three takeaways Dining options: 3 course meal, 7 course meal or a la carte at the bar. So no a la carte in the dining room. I had the three course meal $125 without the drinks. There are several options for each meal. So six options for the appetizer, six for the main and three for the desert. See attached.... More

Great food. There is a tasting menu (7 courses) and a prix fixe menu (3 courses). The prix fixe offers about 6 selection per course. We went with seasonal trio selections (of which there were several to choose from per course); each provide three preparations using the same main ingredient. It was a great way to taste lots of dishes... More

We had the three course tasting menu and it was delicious. The setting is very elegant and the service is outstanding. I had the sashimi, lamb and cheese plate and my bf had the soft-shell crab, lobster pot pie and dessert trio. Everything was cooked and presented beautifully.

A limited, creative menu that encourages diners to select three items. Front of house staff takes interest in adding to the memorability of their service. Full bar and wine list. We've been fans of Chef Mina's, since he got his start, when this was Aqua, and have followed his career through several restaurants, and not just in the Bay Area. We have also had the great pleasure to attend a culinary and wine event with him, at Blackberry Farm, in Tennessee. This was probably the eighth time we have dined... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
