Reservations not honored at all. We made a reservation on open table and were perfectly on time with a party of 3. There were no empty tables. 20 minutes later several other small parties walked in with reservations and none were honored. Hostess completely overwhelmed

The Food During my friend's visit, he wanted to get some Peking Duck. So we discovered Chili House & Peking Duck seemed to be a good option. We ordered a few of their dishes to try - Chicken w/ Explosive Chili Pepper (飄香辣子雞) - Pork...Roll with Chili Sauce - Frog Clay Pot - Peking Duck (北京烤鴨) We originally ordered three dishes, but my friend thought the chicken was bad and sour. The staff were nice enough to swap and recommend another dish, which was the Frog Clay Pot. The Pork Roll dish was a chilled dish, it was pretty good with the chili sauce. I quite enjoyed the new Frog Clay Pot dish. It came with lotus root and celery that goes well with the frog meat. The highlight of the show was the peking duck, which required reservation ahead of time. They had a chef carving out the duck in front of you. The remains of the duck we decided to make soup with it, which goes well with the duck. It was quite a bit of food for two people, but it was delicious. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is on one of the main streets, so prepare to look for street parking. They allow inside seating now, but they also have outdoor seating if you want. The inside is decent sized, with a good amount of seating for small and large parties, normal decors. We arrived a bit after lunch hour, so we didn't have to wait for seating. The service and staff were standard, seated us and took our order timely. We got most of our food not too long after ordering, but would have to say the duck took quite a bit. The restaurant has quite an extensive menu, with lots of variety. It can be overwhelming if you don't have an idea what you want. But if you have a big party, you can try quite a bit. The prices are slightly expensive compared to other similar restaurants. But they do have many selections and unique ones to suit people's taste. Probably come with friends to order different items to try.More

Everything about this place was really awful. I felt really embarrassed to sit there as a Chinese person giving the restaurant some semblance of credibility to other diners. First of all, this is a confusing mess of regional cuisines. It has northern Dongbei lamb pots,...Canto style fried noodles, Sichuan chicken, it's a hodge podge but in a bad way. They do none of them correctly. And I am someone who grew up in Hong Kong and spent 6 years living in Beijing and Shanghai. The Canto pan fried noodles were chewy and not crispy. The eggplant was weirdly sour, I don't know where they got the idea to turn it sour. That's not authentic. The lamb meat they use is stinky. The garlic stir fry snow pea shoots were done well actually, the only dish that was decent. A first for me to experience: this place was stingy on tea. They gave us a pot that had nearly no taste in it, very faint color. We asked for more, the first female server refused to add more tea leaves. The second guy begrudgingly gave us some. The color only became the slightest bit darker. What place is so freaking stingy they don't even want to give you proper tea. It was just barely flavored water. Service was slow, not that easy to get the servers attention and two of them often talking at the cash register to themselves multiple times while I'm struggling to be seen. $60 per head was not cheap either. Only positive thing I can think of is that the portions are large but why would you subject your taste buds to just a barrage of bad food. Too gross to eat. How this place brings people back is mind boggling to me.More

Food was ok as was the service but nothing special. I made my reservation with Open Table and asked that they make sure to credit me. They assured me they would but of course didn't, which I found annoying.

My wife, who is Chinese, found this place and wanted to give it a try. We both love spicy food, so I said why not. I ordered an appetizer of egg rolls, and thought they were ok. No yellow mustard available though. I also ordered...a lunch special Szechuan Poached Fish, and asked for extra spicy. Not sure what kind of fish it was, but it was barely edible, and the broth was over powering in flavor. In a normal dish like this one, I would want to sip the broth and enjoy it with the fish. No chance here. My wife ordered Couples Delight, a cold beef dish. It was just ok, with again, the sauce lacking in flavor. The best dish were the Green Onion Pancakes. Nice flavor and texture. Not a big deal, but I was not given my soup which comes with the lunch special. Needless to say, we will not return.More

The specialty is Peking Duck, and it's presented and served in a style with which I was unfamiliar. I suppose it may be a usual presentation in Hong Kong or Shanghai... A chef trundles around the restaurant with a cart on wheels and slices the...duck right in front of you. Quite a show. Delicious!More

We came here because we wanted to try the "famous" Peking Duck, it is a big disappointment. First of all, the duck is cold and dry, obviously it was roasted days ago and just microwaved, and believe me, I have been in Beijing, I know...what Peking Duck tastes like, this duck tastes nowhere near the authentic Peking Duck; Secondly, The pancakes are fine, but they only give you eight pieces, and it is NOT enough for the whole duck, same thing with the scallion and sauce, if you want more, you have to pay extra ($5 for the pancake and $3 for the scallion). I feel like it is a rip off as they should be free for the $43 duck you are buying. Overall, not recommended.More

This place is a fraud..overpriced and poor quality dishes. Pork dumplings were inconsistent and some exploded ending up in a watery mess and foul smell. The pork feet were dry and coated with a sweet sauce and millions of chilies. The star of the meal...was a side of “pea shoots” , I am not sure about the name but it was a green leafy vegetable with garlic, the price for this veggie plate was “seasonal” and listed on together were other sides like plates and ALL were priced $10.95. When the check came I saw the price $17.95😳For a side of greens?? Wth!! Ripping off people won’t get you very far Chili House!More

not sure why this place had some 4 or 5-star reviews; not only the taste & service was terrible and also it's overpriced! after stopping by Good Luck Dim Sum next door where almost all dim sum was unfortunately sold out, decided to try this...place for dinner. As an asian & has been to many asian eateries, ordered the peking duck & spicy tofu to see how the quality is before wanting to order more; after trying both, we definitely didn't want to get anything else. Tofu was very salty & no flavor; the duck meat not only was bland w/o much flavor, worse was the hoisin sauce for dipping also salty; had to ask for lemon wedges to help neutralize the saltiness; we asked for soup from the duck bones, our waiter (don't know his name, kinda thinner & shorter than other male waiters there) never came by after we initially ordered to see if we needed anything or missing anything; I had to stop another waiter or even a hostess to ask about it; the soup finally came after we finished everything; the soup bowl looked all runny; having had some bones (definitely not from a whole duck) & only few napa cabbage in it without anything else. As we don't speak Chinese, the service & quality was very inferior & disappointing; I felt that if you are an asian & don't speak their language, best to avoid this place as you definitely got a an inferior treatment; as not only the service was horrible but also the taste w/o flavor & even salty, it was definitely our 1st & last visit Because the well-known & popular dim sum place next door was sold out, we made a mistake visiting this place. Despite the inferior taste & service, my wife is always nice to leave a tipMore
