Read the reviews ahead of time. Spent the day in Chinatown, and looked for this place. Totally worth it! Great pho(noodle soup)! And the #32 is the bomb! Lemon beef. Would give that dish five plus plus stars! Remember cash only.

Once I discovered Golden Star I visited it 3 times during my recent stay in San Francisco. It was the real deal for lunch. Nothing fancy, just great Pho or noodles, tea and cold soy milk drink. Lunch for less than $10, all freshly cooked and just so tasty. It is busy, but the service is good and I just... More

I found this restaurant by accident while walking off Grant Ave in China Town. The food was not bad and the service was OK. I think most of the restaurant in China Town would be the same. Be ware that this restaurant only take Cash. Make sure you have enough cash before eating at this restaurant. I noticed that many... More

Had some beef pho but was only so so.....LA has much better pho than SF. Soup tasted like it was from soupbase instead of the real thing. Very busy during lunch hour but quick turnaround.

My wife and I ate a lunch and dinner at this restaurant. There may be a line to wait in for the lunch service since it gets packed at lunch time. I tried the pho with beef flank and beef balls in it and found it to be very good. For dinner we had an order of the "Goi Tom"... More

Very authentic Vietnamese Pho. Good portion. Soup is delicious. No MSG. Very generous to offer basil. Must order the coffee there, one of the best I have ever tasted as well. I will go there every time I visit San Francisco.

We wanted a truly authentic experience for Pho. This place is definitely a local hang out on the edge of Chinatown. However, as it pertained to the Pho we were non plussed. My husband had the mixed beef version and I had the spicy chicken. Neither one stood out. The beef and the chicken were very fatty and the broth... More

I went for lunch and it was buzzing. It only means one thing and that is their food is good. It is a down to earth kind of restaurant but the food is really good and authentic. It was my first visit today and it certainly won't be my last.
