On good luck we tried this very identical Chinese. We were the only non Asians in the restaurant (which I saw as a good sign ) We ordered Peking Duck, Pork with Fried Noodels and Fried Rice. It was not top, but very identical
Ambience: well, you can't expect a fancy restaurant
Price / performance: good
to recommend: yes

We paid $27 for half roast goose and it wasn’t that good. Not sure if it was roasted the same morning. Many pieces were really salty. We had a large Samoan congee and it was awful. They blended up the congee so the grains of rice is no longer intact. Some of the meats in the congee tasted bleach like the intestines. The congee was so bland. A bowl PF plain rice $1.50.
Service for us was good.
We will not be returning a there are many other take out bbq places with roast geese.

on the northern end of chinatown in san fran, Yee's was the best chinese we ate on our vacation. when you see the duck and chickens hanging in the window, you know its FRESH!!! the roasted duck my wife had on our 1st visit(we ate there 3 times) was so good, i ordered it on our 2nd visit, instead of the pork which was superb. its 1/2 a duck for $12. seriously. i had to stuff myself to eat it all. tender, succulent duck.
nothing fancy here, so you won't impress on a first date. just good food!!

Took a chance in this place and loved it! Despite older reviews to the contrary, we received kind and helpful service throughout our whole visit. The restaurant is old, but clean, and we were the only Caucasians there during a moderately busy dinner. Roasted ducks, chickens, and quarter of a roasted pig hung in the front near the windows.
As everyone else chattered away in Chinese around us, we were a little bit lost. Always up for an adventure, we wanted to try something new, and were greeted with a menu full of authentic Chinese fare. No orange chicken or fortune cookies to be found, so we knew we were at the right place.
The helpful waiter made a few recommendations to allow us to try several new flavors, and when he was done, we weren’t fully sure of what we’d be getting, but we went along anyway. After a short while, he brought out a plate with large portions of barbecued pork, and roasted duck, and then another piled high with a thin, fried noodle dish, half mixed with seafood, the other half chicken and beef.
Everything was hot, fresh, and flavorful. It was all well prepared and delicious, but also delightfully foreign to Americanized palates. This was not your typical Chinese takeout fare. We shared the contents of the two plates, realized that we couldn’t possibly finish them due to the large portions, and asked for the bill. It was only $33.50! I was blown away that we could eat so much and so well, in 2024, in a town like San Francisco, for what felt like a very reasonable sum.
When you go, I recommend going in ready to try new things, new flavors, and a new culture. They’ll bring hot tea to your table right away, but id you want a glass of ice water, you’ll have to ask for it. On a reasonably warm California day, we were the only patrons there with the cups of water, but they happily obliged. If you’re looking for a new experience, to soak up the essence of Chinatown and its unique culture, all at a reasonable price, I highly recommend Yee’s Restaurant.

Worst Chinese meal I have ever had. The place is disgustingly filthy and the meat is the dishes we ordered was very poor quality. We were a party of 6 and none of us enjoyed the meal and could not wait to leave. One of the group found a hair in their meal and there was blood in the chicken in the wonton noodle soup. I am amazed that we were not ill after eating here. As we left the waiter asked for a tip!!!!! The kitchen looked like a rubbish dump and of the one of the chefs I saw was wearing a filthy apron that was covered in blood. Absolute horror show. I would rather starve than eat in this place.

This restaurant was recommended from a friend. The food was good and it was an experience. This is not your fancy night out, but it is great for the authentic chinatown experience. My wife loved the potstickers. They were big with plenty of meat.

I see that the reviews are very mixed about this place: my husband and I loved it! Because it was authentic Chinese (so the food was delicious even if the service was not exactly obsequious !!) We found it clean, efficient and excellent value. The roast duck was especially tasty and there was lots of meat on those bones. Amusingly: we were taking a rather long time deciding what to order because of the large selection of unusual dishes. The waiter was very patient. But he did encourage a regular (San Francisco born Chinese speaking a very educated English) to help us make a choice!! And we ended up having a most pleasant conversation …

We over ordered so we could taste several dishes. All were good, but the duck was our favorite. Many locals here.

Ordered roasted duck rice plate, with some cabbage. The taste was ok, but nothing special at a price of $11, a bit over priced. It's ok for a quick simple lunch.

Yee’s has the best roasted goose, roasted pork and squab (two kinds: fried or soy sauce pigeon) in all Chinatown.
The place is not a fancy restaurant, it looks more like a butchery.
But the food there is awesome!

We drove 2 guests from the Netherlands from Huntington Beach CA to San Francisco for sightseeing and after a long day visiting Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge and so forth, we decided to eat at this restaurant where we have eaten before a few times. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with the dishes, and plan to try different restaurant next time we are in town. We chose noodles, not very flavorful, soup was bland, price is not cheap but somewhat fair, service was fine.

This is not a 5 star restaurant and it does not pretend to be. It is a good place for a reasonably priced meal with quick service and also gives you a bit of the real atmosphere of Chinatown.
