this was perhaps one of san frans best kept secrets. as far as a delicious french restaurant on a street corner that always looks romantic. now the service and food were not what it used to be . i'm hoping we caught a bad night but it was really off its game . i could also tell it wasn't just... This restaurant had been recommended but turned out to be a serious and expensive disappointment. Two orders of rack of lamb were numerous slices of meat smothered in a heavy brown, flavorless sauce. Fish of the day was a rock cod. Presentation was a pile of seafood that appeared as if it had dropped and then reconstituted on the plate... More

A little French Bistro with oh so much potential, but that just misses the mark. Super location on Mason Street just downhill from the Fairmont. The food was “OK”, but needs a bit more care and attention. My veal chop was simply thrown on the plate with some vegetables, and the chop was rather thin and curled up. We wanted... More

This is old San Francisco charm. Rue Lepic has been a san francisco institution for as long as I can remember-at least 25years and probably much much longer. It is wonderful to have a fine french restaurant untainted by the hands of time. A true classique.

We visited and had the set menu at $62 each. This was a five course meal but had he explained that all main courses came with soup included we could have reduced the bill by nearly half. Great food thoroughly enjoyed but probably would go for other option.

Everyone should try having dinner with Marco the extraordinary waiter and all of the dishes we tried were magnificent.

Well what a gem that chic little beauty was. From the outside, this bistro looks cool and romantic.....and so it proves. The staff were fantastic and the food was superb. Tasty, understated, tasty, high quality and BTW very tasty! A gorgeous Napa pinot did us proud and my filet mignon and my wife's breast were sublime. It is the sort... More

We came here for a very nice dinner. The atmosphere and food were solid. The owner came over and personally made us feel welcomed and appreciated. I had a delicious swordfish and my wife had the duck. Both entrees were tasty. The issue - and it was significant, was that our clothes smelled like the cooking grill afterwards. When we... More

We were looking for a restaurant to celebrate my adult son's Birthday close to knob hill, and discovered Rue Lepic. All 6 of us had a great experience. All dishes were wonderful. My sons having large appetites, were fully satisfied. We sat by the window of this small restaurant, and it was a perfect setting to observe city activities...loved it!... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
