This bar is low key and fun. Very friendly bar staff and excellent cocktails. The cheese plate is large, good and an excellent buy.

We didn't eat here, but the drinks were great. We went on a Friday night and they had a live DJ. It was a nice chilled vibe :-)

Perched adjacent to the corner of Gough and Grove Streets in San Francisco, this Civic Center gem has undergone some changes over the past year but still retains its electic sensibility of the non-conformist. Too many "independent" places in hipster-infested San Francisco seem molded and stamped from some post-industrial plant. But not Muka. Jean-Luc, Muka's owner, as well as bar-tender... More

In Russian, "muka" means torment, torture. That would be an appropriate description of any attempt to get a drink at the bar here. The bartenders in SF are often inattentive (I wrote about it often - it seems to be an SF phenomenon). But at Muka, they have taken ignoring customers to an art level. Their whole facial expression just... More

They became our favorite afternoon happy hour stop as well as for after dinner drinks and deserts. Many craft brews on tap as well as an excellent selection of top shelf spirits. Staff was friendly and the place was very clean.

Muka is a fun coffee shop and cocktail place in San Francisco. We enjoyed stopping here as we were staying close by. We have also visited prior to going to a show at the Civic Center area.

This is a great place to meet up if you're waiting to go to dinner or one of the fine arts venue nearby. It's got a good cocktail list, beer list, and coffee drinks too. I think it has a little food menu but i didn't try it. After work, it had a relaxed atmosphere.

Was looking for a place to watch the Giants playoff game and remembered seeing this place earlier. Good selection of beer and spirits. These seems to be a local hangout. They have a food menu and we ordered the charcuterie platter. Not bad, a little pricey but took the edge off. This place isn't very big but we really enjoyed... More

It's hard to find a drinking arena without bar scene in very late night, say after midnight. We happened to hit Muka after our late dinner and we felt like to have some chats and drinks. Muka is a neat place that serve variety of coffees to hard liquors and house cocktails, and even steamed soy milk. Those were what... More

We stopped in Muka after we had been walking around San Francisco all day and were starving. It looked like there were a lot of locals here who enjoyed the place so that has to be a great sign right? When we walked in it was not apparent if we needed to wait for a seat, or just sit down.... More

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway.
