We enjoyed this very much! The ambiance is delightful. A full bar, unusual in a Thai place and a koi fish pond. We had Panang Curry with shrimp, and Pumpkin curry with chicken, both delicious. Zinfandel wine and Riesling both surprisingly good. We accidentally tried the fried ice cream, and it was good too!

Lolita's has lots of great space and a super comfortable seating area for groups, and it's well decorated! They have a full bar with a good selection of beer. Beers are $5... not sure if there's a happy hour, but it could totally be worse. Near an art school, but not a good place to park. Do NOT park a... More

After an enjoyable evening at the Asian Art Museum, my friend and I stopped at Lalita Thai Restaurant and Bar for a late night supper. We ordered three dishes to share: crispy pork over fried rice, Tom Yum soup, and vegetarian egg rolls. Although the Thai fried rice did not look or taste like our idea of fried rice, we... More

Conveniently located, Lalita Thai' food is average in taste and quality. I had the custom lunch, chicken with peanut sauce and brown rice. The brown rice, which had some interesting nutty additions, was the best part. The chicken and vegetables were OK, nothing special. My companions had the tofu and red curry sauce, again, nothing special. While they brought the... More

Lalita's has a menu with many options, with several levels of heat. The service is quick and courteous too. I have tried their pad thai, pad see ew, noodle soups and lunch specials. The lunch specials may be the most distinctive because you may choose your protein, your starch, then you get a spring roll and salad with it. Everything... More

Lalita is within walking distance of the opera house, and a block from Civic Center BART, so it is a perfect place to eat before the ballet or opera. We love Thai food, and the menu is extensive, as is the cocktail list and nice wine selections. I had a mojito ($10) and Thai fried rice topped with crispy pork... More

We walked in following another couple who said this place was great but for some reason we thought we were going to eat italian as you could smell it in the air as we were walking. Nice quaint restaurant, seated immediately even though it was packed. We were greated by a waitress who took our drink order and then we... More

We dined here recently before a play in the neighborhood. The place is clean enough, lit well enough, staffed adequately, etc. Once we ordered our food, the appetizer came out in about 2 minutes, which made me think it was already made, under the lights, keeping warm. However the crispy calamari was decent, and not tough or old tasting. Our... More

We dined here before attending a show at the Orpheum Theatre around the corner. The service was pleasant and we were served very quickly. The dishes we selected were delicious. Unfortunately the server got busy and wasn't as attentive at the end of our dinner so we had to gulp down our dessert, pay the bill and dash to get... More

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
